Full Program Scheduled For Meet; Provo Club Is Hostess Soroptimist club women from Colorado, Idaho and Utah, are in Provo today to attend sessions of the third conference of the Rocky Mountain region f of Soroptimist , clubs. Hotel Roberts , is convention headquarters. The Provo club, with Miss Velma Mendenhall : as president, is hostess to the visitors, numbering 5 more than 75 women from the Denver, Colo.; Boisef Idaho; Salt Lake, Logan and Ogden clubs. Miss Mendenhall is general chairman of the convention, which will be presided over by Mrs. Cornelia S. Lund of Salt Lake City, regional : r director. Other regional officers In attendance at-tendance are: Miss Myrta Hales of Ogden, secretary; Dr. Margaret Andrews of Salt Lake City, representative, rep-resentative, and Mrs. Ina C. Brown of Provo, representative at large. A pre-convention event was held at the Springville art gallery Saturday evening, when the early arrivals joined the Provo women on a visit through the exhibit. 'Democracy Speaks" is the theme of the conference. Dr. J. C. Jbloffitt, superintendent of Provo city schools, will be guest speaker at the . formal banquet' and installation in-stallation of regional officers, to be held this evening at 7 o'clock at the hotel. The officers wlM be elected at 4 o'clock this afternoon, immediately immedi-ately following the general assembly as-sembly at 2 o'clock, to be held at the Women's clubhouse. Mrs. Irma F. Bitner, president of the Salt Lake club, will conduct con-duct the Installations, and Mrs. Ina C Brown, regional representative repre-sentative at large, and past president presi-dent of the Provo club, will be toastmistreH. Several . special guests have been invited to the banquet. Jtfusic. will be furnished by a double mixed quartet from the Provo high school, under the direction di-rection of Ernest Paxman, and incidental in-cidental music will be played by a string trio from the B. Y. U. Aregionai board1 meeting is to be held this morning at 9:30 a. m., to be followed at 10: SO by a regional re-gional council meeting. Regional committee meetings are set for 11:30 and at 12:15, a luncheon will honor the club presidents, with Miss Mendenhall in charge. The club presidents include: Mrs. Alice" Echols, Boise; Miss Estella G. Murphy, Denver; Mrs. Una Vermillion, Logan; Mrs. Joan Emmett, Ogden; Mrs. Irma F. Bitner, Salt Lake City, and Miss Velma Mendenhall, Provo. Music' for the luncheon will be furnished by a trio from the Provo high school. Also, community com-munity singing will be led by Mrs. Beatrice Dobbs of Ogden, with. Miss Jessie Perry of Salt Lake City, as accompanist. The bid for next year's convention conven-tion will be made during the luncheon. Catholic Women Plan Card Social The Catholic Women's League is holding another of its delightful public card parties, Tuesday evening eve-ning at 8 o'clock at the church hall. - Tables of bridge and "600" will be played and prizes awarded. PROVO Club Women At Art Tea; Smart Event SPRINGVILLE Charming in every detail was the annual art tea given by the federated wo-mens' wo-mens' clubs of Springville Saturday Satur-day afternoon, at the art. gallery, for members of women's federated clubs throughout the state. The entertainment is given annually an-nually in connection with the high school art exhibit and is one of the largest social functions in this city. The art galleries were appropriately appro-priately decorated for the occasion with early spring blossoms. A beautiful centerpiece of cut flowers, flow-ers, and tapers were employed on the serving tables which was also covered with a lovely Imported cloth. Guests were welcomed to the tea ty a committee representing the six federated clubs of the city and in the receiving line were: Chairman Mrs. F. ' C. Packard, Mrs. Sterling Ercanbrack of Provo, Mrs. Harold Chris tensen, state and district officers, and representatives from the local clubs. A large corps of club women served the guests and the groups were also conducted through the art galleries during the afternoon, by local club representatives. Home From Av Camp; Honored A family gathering honored Corporal Keith Ellertaon Thursday evening at the home of his, mother, Mrs. Lucile V. Ellertson. The young man is stationed with the first composite squadron at Meridan, Miss., and is home for a few days. An elaborate supper was served, and during music and games, Keith related Interesting camp experiences. ex-periences. S. Rut-ledge Rut-ledge of Moab, is announced today. The young couple will be married in the Manti temple, Saturday, Sat-urday, April 25, and will make their home in Provo. The' bride is a junior at the B. Y. U.. and is a member of the Alta Mitra social unit. Mr. Peterson has also been attending at-tending the "Y". Couple to Be Wed Monday SANTAQUTN" The marriage of Vlrsnia Kirkman, charming daughter of .Mr. and Mrs. George Kirkman of Santaquin, and John S. Gardner of Pleasant Grove, will be solemnized in the Salt Lake temple on Monday, A wedding reception in honor of the popular couple will be held Tuesday evening in the Santaquin Junior high school. The bride will receive her bachelor of science degree from the B. Y. U. "In June. Mr. Gardner was a student of the same institution prior to his departure with the National Guard, for service with Uncle Sam. He has been in the service a year and a half, now stationed at Burbank, California. Mr. Gardner Gard-ner lacked two quarters of study to complete his college work. B. P. W. Jennings, Jr., the nuptials to take place the morning of Friday, April 24, at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. John S. Van Cott of Provo. Mr. Jennings is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles H. Jennings, of Lame Deer, Montana. Only immediate , family members will be present as ' the ceremony is read. A wedding breakfast will immediately follow fol-low at the Hotel Roberts,, and the young couple will leave for 'a short trip through the northwest. Stubbs, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald H. Stubbs of Provo. President Stephen L. Chipman performed the ceremony, in the presence of the bride's mother, and her aunt, Mrs. Clara Nichols of Provo; the groom's grandmother, grand-mother, Mrs. William Hansen of American Fork; an uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Spafford, and cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Anderson of American Fork. After the ceremony, the group was met by the groom's mother, Mrs. Stubbs, and dinner was served at a downtown cafe. The newlyweds left for a short trip, the bride wearing a smart suit of tan and blue plaid, with tan accessories.
