Their daughter daugh-ter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Dee Brinkerhoft' accompanied thern on their trip. They attended dedicatory services at the new Can Jo.se ward chapel Sunday evening. eve-ning. While there they met Elder Lewis F. Wells w ho Is laboring at Watsonville. Calif. The men folks attended the fair ot San Francisco Francis-co Tuesday. Upon their arrival home they were greeted by family members, who had gathered to extend birthday greeting to Mrs, Alien, it being her . anniversary. They left Friday morning with Mr. and Mrs. Brinkorhoff for Bicknel, Wayne County, where they will visit. . The M. I. A. will hold their opening social Tuesday evening in the ward chapel. A program and games will be given and refreshments refresh-ments will be served. All those of mutual age are invited. Both organizations have an energetic group of workers for the coming season. The Mixing Bowl 4-H cooking club took two first places at the county fair, winning the Kerr and Ball fruit canning prizes. Miss Erna Rogers is the club leaders. The Jolly Stitchers 4-11 Sewing club placed second in the county. The girls each have completed a street dress, shoe bag and underskirt. under-skirt. Price area residents today mucked out basements, surveyed mud-covered mud-covered fields and helped clear debris-blocked highways and roads following the "worst cloudburst since 1908." The storm struck suddenly late yesterday. Flow of the Price river riv-er was raised inches above normal. nor-mal. Basements of several homes in Helper were Hooded as were low farmlands between Price and Helper. ! U. S. Highway 50 in Price canyon can-yon was blocked more than two hours by severe slides. The mainline main-line Denver & Rio Grande railroad rail-road tracks through the canyon were covered by mud and rocks eight feet deep in several places. Traffic was not restored on a normal basis until after midnight. Many smaller highways throughout the area were blocked by slides and mud. LOGAN, Utah, Sept. 14 r.r.)--Motorists drove through Logan canyon slowly today because of numerous slides that covered the roadbed as a result of a severe thundershower late yesterday. Highway crews worked all night clearing traffic lanes through the sliele areas. V. G. Anniuersory PLEASANT GROVE Commemorating Com-memorating the ninetieth anniversary anni-versary oi" the founding of Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove, the local camp of the Daughters of the Pioneers entertained enter-tained the native and original pioneers of the community in the Relic hall Friday afternoon. A. program was presented which featured old time songs by some of the pioneers, a story by Lu-cile Lu-cile II, - Walker, and a clever dramatization directed by Oscar Evans. The affair was supervised y Peail Wept, vice captain; Fein Smith, secretary-treasurer. Assisting As-sisting them was a refreshment committee with Merle Coombs as its bend.
