Members of the Ladies Literary Liter-ary club were delightfully entertained enter-tained at their annual Christmas party Wednesday night at the home of Mrs. Harold Ghristensen. Lovely holiday decoration including includ-ing a beautifully decorated Christmas Christ-mas tree added to the spirit of the party. A nicely arranged luncheon was served by the hostess host-ess early in the evening and later Progressive "Christmas" was played with Mrs. LaCelle Sumsion Sum-sion and Mrs. V. C. Mendenhall winning the game prizes. Before gifts were distributed to each member, Mrs. E. S. Groesbeck gave a humorous Christmas skit. President Rea Straw was in charge of the games. In attendance attend-ance were seventeen club members. mem-bers. In honor of Dee Sanford who plana to leave the latter part of the month on a mission to the Taitian Islands, Leslie Beardall entertained, a, number of friends at an enjoyable party at home last Wednesday evening- A variety of games preceeded a delicious de-licious lunch and those present presented the guest of honor with a number of useful gifts. In attendance were the following: Bert Cherrington, Carl Peterson, Robert Weight, Ben Bartholomew, Wood row Weight. DeVere Weight, Kimball Sorenson, Earl Whitney, the honored guest and host. - S- T. Club members were guests of Mrs. Lewis Clegg at their annual an-nual Christmas party Thursday night. A beautiful tree and other holiday decorations were employed throughout the entertaining enter-taining rooms. Contract bridge was featured after a delicious luncheon served at small tables, high score bridge prize was won by Mrs. Esther Johnson. Others in attendance were, Mrs. Ella Crandall, Mrs. Melba Pennington, Mrs. Gwen Baxter, Mrs. Hazel Harrison, Mrs. Hilda Grant, Mrs. Gertrude Sumsion. Mrs. Emma Rowland, Mrs. Ora Rowland, Mrs. Thelma Clark, Mrs. Floss Phillips and Mrs. Manilla Brown. At the close of the party Christmas gifts were exchanged among the members. mem-bers. Mrs. Wayne Johnson was hostess host-ess to members of the Mothers Studv club at their Christmas party on Tuesday night. Mrs Gladys Bover presuued over an enjoable program featuring a Christmas theme.' JEtta Thorpe gave a Christmas story; Mrs. Lela Sumsion, Mrs. Eugene Bird, Mrs. Nellie Burt, Christmas poems; Mrs. Gene Pierce and Mrs. Boyer, a vocal duet and community singing sing-ing was led by Mrs. Beth Barrett. Bar-rett. - In conclusion a well arranged ar-ranged luncheon was served by the hostess and lovely gifts were exchanged among the members. Announcment is made of the marriage of Donna A. Snell, daughter of Mr. and- Mrs. D. O. Ashe raft of this city and, "Ernest Whiting of Mapleton which took place Thursday, December ; 22, in the Salt Lake temple. The couple plan to make their home at Mapleton. A number of friends . held a Christmas exchange gift party, at the home of Miss Helen Chriaten-sen Chriaten-sen Thursday evening. Sofcial chat, games and a tasty luncheon featured the affair with the following fol-lowing in attendance, Miss Cecelia Ce-celia Maycock, Miss Mariam Long, Miaa Marjorie Simklns, Miss Lucille Oakley, Miss Luella Huntington, Miss Louise Clyde, Miss Wilna Brown and the hostess. Recreational Facilities We should be thankful for our matchless recreational advantages the year around, such as fishing, hunting, boating, swimming, camping, hiking, skating, skiing and organized sports and playground activities. Climate We should be thankful that we have a healthful, stimulating four-season climate with sunny days and cool nights. Natural Resources We should be thankful for our ample water supply, which will be further augmented aug-mented by the Deer Creek project; for our unlimited quantities of coal, the basis of modern industry; for our available supply of iron ore, lead, zinc, copper and other base materials; for fertile soil that will grow a variety of crops. Improvements We should be thankful for the federal aid that we are receiving in the improvement and extension of our paved streets, sewers and water system.
