Coach Kimball has been using Weimer at center and Crowton ai xorwaid since leaving rrovo. In the earlier games, Crowton was always in at center. In Montana, Crowton was a marked man but put in some brilliant games. He ..as decidedly off form against iuaho Friday night. Allen accounted ac-counted for one of the Montana State victories and looks like a regular at the other forward joo. Gunneil, reserve forward, is getting back some of his shooting ability and should hp a valuable man before the season is over. B. Y. U. is weakest on the guard line. With Captain Roberts out, the Cougars don't click nearly as well. BY DON BEATTY World All-Events Champion As a usual thing a split may be traced to a poorly controlled first tall. Only once in a while will even a pretty good hit leave a split. The only thing to do about splits is try to make them, which in a lot of cases can be done with a little judgment. We'll takf a 6, 7, 10 split as an v example. Most right-handed keg-lers keg-lers approach this split fearful and trembling. Naturally, that is the wrong way to view it. The split can be made, but not by a chap who believes it impossible. im-possible. A straight ball, shaving No. 6 real thin, will topple that pin across and into No. 7, and then go on to take out No. 10. But the straight ball has less margin of safety to work on down the side of the alley. On drives not right up to standard, it frequently fre-quently rolls into the gutter. Hook throwers can negotiate the 6, 7, 10 split by moving over toward the center of the alley, and directing their regular hook toward the side of the drive. The ball will sweep toward the gutter, then cut in a tlt. as it reaches the pins, and shave No. 6 nicely. Don't permit splits to make you mad, for regardless of who you are and as long as you bowl, you're going to get a certain number num-ber of them. 3 NEW MEXICO MEN STRICKEN ALBUQUERQUE, N. Ml, Dec. 24 L.P) Three New Mexico university uni-versity reserves were stircken with influenza today and Coach Ted Shipkey appeared worried as to the effect this might have on his team's chances in the New Year's Sun towl game at El Paso. With the battle against Utah university only eight days away, Wilbur Lewis, halfback, Floyd Darrow, guard, and Ed Larner, center, were treating their malady with virtually everything in the athletic department's medicine chest in order to get in condition for the game. The New Mexico team "had a stiff workout again yesterday with Shipkey drilling the squad on complicated pass plays in order to rntch the strong passing attack at-tack the Utes are expected, to present Jan. 2.
