Farr of Provo, formerly of Pleasant Grove, are announcing the engagement of their daughter, Mercelle, to Thelbert C. Atkinson, son of Mr. and Mrs. T. A. Atkinson of Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove. July 2 has been set as Ine date of marriage, the nuptials to take place in the Salt Lake temple. A wedding reception is to be held in the Pleasant Grove Second Sec-ond ward hall by the bride's parents par-ents the same evening, and after a honeymoon in the canyons of southern Utah, the young couple will make their home in Park City. Both are graduates 'f the Pleasant Grove high school, and Miss Farr is also a graduate of the Provo School cf Beauty Culture. DAMAGES City Briefs Winston Fillmore, head of the men's furnishing department at the J. C. Penney store, has left for Denver, Colo., to visit his brother, Parker Fillmore. Leon Edward Hatton, 26, Divi dend, and Blanche Erickson, 22, I Dividend, were married Saturday morning by County Clerk Clarence Grant. Mr, and Mrs. K. D.' Billing, Deah Billings and J. A. Hansen of Salt Lake City, were here to attend at-tend funeral services for Mrs. Minnie Min-nie A. Taylor, held in the First ward chapel Friday. Mrs. J. A. Hansen, the former Ruth Billings, is now recovering from a major operation in the Holy Cross hospital hos-pital in Salt Lake. Mrs. D. I. Brown and son Cloyd, are spending the week end at Maple Dell in Payson canyon. Thomas Griffiths has returned from a Logan hospital, where he underwent a major operation two weeks ago. Mrs. Paul YVarnick and son Michael of Ogden, are visiting Mr and Mrs. Walter Adams, enroute to Oakland. Cal., where they will make their home. I 11 -OS f To Be Wed Monday Miss Josephine Brimhall. daugh ter of Mr. and ! Mrs. D. C. Brimhall Brim-hall of Provo, vhose marriage to Blair G. Johns, son of Mr. and Mrs. Grover Johns of Spanish Fork, is to take plane Monday in the Salt Lake temple. The newlyweds expect to reside in Los Angeles, California. A number of attractive social functions have been tendered the bride-to-be during the past two weeks. A graduate of the Springvilie high school, she has also attended the L. D. S. Business college. She recently returned re-turned from a two-year Californian mission. Mr Johns was graduated from the Spanish Fork high school and is a former "Y" student. He is now a senior in a Los Angeles dental college. Well Known Couple Wed In Temple Mies Zelma Winterton, well known Provo high school instructor, instruc-tor, and a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph S. Winterton of Provo, became the bride of Ray Colton, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Colton, Col-ton, now of this city, Friday in the Salt Lake temple. Stephen L. Chipman performed perform-ed the ceremony during the morning morn-ing session, which was witnessed by Mr. and Mrs. Winterton, Mr. and Mrs. Colton, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Colton and Mrs. Chamberlain. Cham-berlain. After a short honeymoon, the young couple will spend the sum mer in Heber City. They will probably reside in Vernal next winter, where Mr. Colton expects to teacn school. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Dixon and family have been visiting here from New York City, and were accompanied ac-companied home by Mrs. Electa Dixon who will remain in Provo. Mr. Dixon is returning east, while his wife and family will spend the summer with her people at Fairview. Meredith Ivie of Lynndyl. Utah, underwent an operation at the Medical Building nospitai Saturday Satur-day morning and is reported to be getting along fine. Rotary Club's Installation Outing Past president of the Provo Rotary Rot-ary club have arranged for the annual installation party to be held at Schneitter's Hot Pots in Midway, Friday evening. Missionary Is Feted At Shower Honoring George Thatcher, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Thatcher, who is leaving for a mission in the north central states, Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Dahlquist gave a shower Friday evening at their home. Beautiful garden flowers were used as a decoration. MLss Mary Dahlquist conducted a group of interesting games, and the high prizes went to J.
