Oct. 8 (L l'i i A bewildering aerial attack launch- j ed by the Brigham Young univer- sity football team routed Occidental college's eleven in an intersectional : contest in Rose Bowl last night. Scoring almost at will, Brigham Young blanked Occidental's warriors war-riors without a score while running up 46 points in its own column. One touchdown was r leistered in the opening quarter, two more in the second, another in the third and a final offensive pushed over three more In the fourth. Bertott! Goes 60 The game was featured by a bt il liant 60-yard run in the third quarter by Bertotti, Brigham Young half, for a touchdown. The visitors opened their scoring scor-ing with a well-timed aerial offensive offens-ive that caught Occidental napping. LaComb tossed 25 yards to Robison who was felled on the Tiger one-yard one-yard line. Biddulph took the ball over on the first play and Bertotti converted. Passes again were worked for. scores in the second quarter, with Hart and Bertotti on the receiving end. The three scoies in the final period were netted on two line plays and two 25-yard passes, San-tord San-tord to Robison. Occidental's lone threat came in the third quarter when Cooper raced 60 wards after the kickoff but the offensive was blasted 20 yards from the goal stripe. Starting lineup and summary: B. Y. U. Payson and American Fork came out on top in the Region 3 football race, Payson taking a hotly contested con-tested game from Springville, 7-6 and American Fork taking the measure of the Lehi Pelicans, 20-0. Lincoln-and Pleasant Grove battled to a scoreless tie in a game at Lincoln Lin-coln in which both teams looked pood. Simmons plunged over the line to make Payson's touchdown in t'ne second period after Strom had worked the ball within scoring distance dis-tance with a 30-yard run. Twice more Payson had the ball on the Red Devil's one-yard line but the strong Springville line held. Simmons plunged over the line for the extra point to clinch the game tor Payson. Springvillc's touchdown came in the final period when Alleman threw a long pass to Cherrington, end. Payson made 13 first downs to Springville's one and 238 yards to 116 made by the Red Devils. With Roberts punting sensationally sensation-ally and the American Fork backs and line exhibiting unlooked-for power the Lehi boys had little chance against their Cavemen neighbors. Nichols scored two of the touchdowns and Durrant made the other. In the Lincoln versus Pleasant Grove game, Lincoln made a touchdown touch-down after five minutes of play but the ball was called back because be-cause of Lincoln holding. From then on the game see-sawed until the end with both teams showing power on both defensive and offen sive. Arthur Ivie added another win to his string of victories in the horseshoe horse-shoe marathon by taking the Friday Fri-day leg wit'n six victories and no defeats. His closest competitor was L. The traditional tradi-tional Colorado college jinx over Denver university failed to "jinx" Friday night in a night game at the Denver field and the Denver team licked the Tigers 15-6 in a ragged exhibition in which the only redeeming re-deeming feature was the performance perform-ance of tfce Tiger line against Denver. nesday at 5:30 p. m. on the city and county building courts. ,v li Mm: Al c; Vsjwsssf . ill F$ fa& WMd&W' ft F: X tern if'4vii Ymy Is ; . - I -wf , i -J'-ift & i it s m. Provo made two sustained th'.rfits to .score, in the first and l!st quarters. In the Provo oackfield Tip Anderson And-erson was a standout, making consistent con-sistent gains off-tackle all through the game, playing a great brand of defensive ball and doing some of the best of "the streaked kicking that marked the game. Haws at left tackle did the best work on the line for the Bulldogs, with "Brack-er" "Brack-er" Snow at end also looking good. Snow Gets Fumble1 , Snow came near to being a real 'hero in the last quarter when the ball flipped out of Bennion's hands as the Jordan boys were nearing the. Provo goal posts and into the hands of the surprised Snow. Snow was downed after a 30-yard dash by Densley. Gammell's pass to the 34-yard line was ruled good on the next play , when the receiver was interfered with and Provo seemed on the march for a touchdown when the game ended. Leonard Harris, regular end, had his right arm broken in a mixup near the close, of the first half and will be out for the remainder of the season. Harris was a power on the Provo line while he waa in. Canning Fast Canning, substitute Jordan back, made Jordan's first touchdown on b27-yard run around left end after Hansen had bucked it to the 27.i "Beef" Peterson, Provo rig'nt tackle had smeared an attempted pass just before this on tl:e play in which Harris was hurt.
