Mesdames Delbert Chipman and M. H. Inger-soll Inger-soll were assisting hostesses. A program, was .given whjch included a talk on the value of cooperation by Clifford E. Toung, instrumental and vocal selections by Dr. and Mrs. V. F, Houston, the presentation presenta-tion and acceptance of the bylaws by-laws of the organization. All ladies preent crocheted a wool medallion which will go to make up a wool afghan and will be sold by the auxiliary. This is in keeping with the auxiliary slogan. "Work With Wool. .Late in the afternoon a delicious lunch ' was served the twenty-five guests v Mrs M ..H, Ingersoll will be the next hostess to the auxiliary at her home, and Considerable interest was manifested mani-fested in the wood-chopping championship cham-pionship contest held in front Of Chipman Mercantile Co., Wednesday Wednes-day afternoon, sponsored by the makers of the Plumb ax. Five local choppers entered the contest and the chips flew thick and fast under the axes of each. Orln ;Rich chopped chop-ped through the log in 1 minute 48 seconds .beating his nearest com petitor, Marshal Spencer by minute. min-ute. .Mr. Rich was awarded the new ax offered as the prize. The birthday anniversary of Mrs. Rosa Grant was the occasion for a party tendered her Wednesday afternoon by the First ward Relief Society ladies. The Sunshine committee com-mittee with Mrs. Ida, Haag. as chairman, were in charge. There were forty present and a jolly afternoon aft-ernoon was spent in enjoying a short program, games and light refreshments. the demonstration. The marriage of Fay C. Peterson and John L. Clarke was solemnized Wednesday in the Salt Lake temple. President and Mrs. James H. Malvlny's Christmas." Her second reading was a modern version of "Jack and the Beanstalk." The special Christinas Christ-inas music included two violin selections se-lections by Mrs. William Loveless, accompanied by Mrs. Ada Taylor; and under the direction of Miss Jane Wood, a group of girls from the Salem Junior high school sang two numbers, "Christmas Starlight" Star-light" and "Christmas." The American Legion auxiliary met Monday evening at the Legion club rooms in their regular semimonthly semi-monthly meeting, with President Ann Butterworth in charge. A favorable report was given on the membership drive now under way. Plans were discussed for a benefit dance to be given at the Bon Ton on Saturday, December 19. Mr. and Mrs. T. L. Reece; The janitor-engineers of Nebo school district held a very interest ing social and banquet at the Pay-son Pay-son Junior high school last Satur day evening. David Sargent of the Payson high school, president of the organization, was in charge. A business session was followed with the social and banquet, which was prepared and served by home economic students. Guest speakers were Superintendent Melvin Wilson of the Nebo school district, and N. Blaine Winters, principal of the Junior high 3ohool.
