YrXCheld at the home of Miss Zelma Winterton, Friday afternoon. In the receiving line were Miss Zelma Winterton, Miss Beth Rich, Miss Dorothy Mensel, Miss Wilma Jeppson, faculty fac-ulty advisor; Miss Caroline Scorup and, Miss Madge Crowly. A pretty Christmas decorative scheme was employed. A huge Christmas tree, bright with colored lights, tinsel and ornaments, stood in the reception room, and wreaths and motifs of the season were also used. The tea table was covered with an elegant ecru talian lace cloth over green satin. A green crystal bowl of red carnations, car-nations, baby breath and lace ferns) " formed an attractive centerpiece, on either side of which was. a red candle in unique Christmas hold-err. hold-err. Th Misses' Fawn Ivins, L-ois Smith and Beulah Strickler poured, and the following served: Miss Maemetta Royal, Miss Alice Spencer, Spen-cer, Miss Flo Heindselman, Mrs. Lorna J. Harrison, Miss Uarda Ball and Miss Olive .Winterton. Violin duets were furnished by Miss Laura Mensel and Miss Lorna Murray, accompanied by Miss Helen Hel-en Calder, and vocal solos were rcndtred by Miss Fawn Ivins. Eftautiful string music was played lv Miss Mary Holbrook, Miss Ruth Holbrook and Miss Lorna Gibbons. The reception committee consisted con-sisted of Miss Moreho Allred, Miss Helen Decker, Miss Helen Cook, Miss Maxine Clayton and Miss Rose Eyring. More than 150 guests, including B. Y. j. faculty women, Mrs. J. William Knight, former advisor; alumni members, members of the A. W. S., and the mothers of the Cesta Ties girls, called between the hours of 3:30 and 5:30 o'clock. Miss Caroline Scorup was in 'haige of arrangements, and was assisted by Miss Flo Heindselman, refreshments; Miss Helen Cook, invitations; in-vitations; Miss Zelma Winterton, decorations. Bridge Party Is Enjoyable Affair Bridge, followed by a delicious luncheon, were the diversions at the- Rainbow club party held Fri-. Fri-. day evening at the -home of Mrs. Odella Hindmarsh. r ' Mrs. Florence Clark won the high score prize and Mrs. Hazel Clark received the second favor. Johnson was, pleasant, ly surprised at his home Friday evening, by a group of relatives and friends who gathered to celebrate his birthday anniversary. High five was played, the prizes being awarded to Mrs. William Peay and William Carter and th consolation favors going to Mrs. P. B. Johnson and Joseph P. Johnson. Hawaiian music was furnished by Fred Carter, Raynola Johnson and Fred Johnson. A delicious luncheon was servrd to 31 guests. '4 Fine Program At Camp Meeting Members of Camp No. 5, Daughters Daugh-ters of Utah Pioneers, were, the guests Mrs. Elsie Bennett Thursday Thurs-day afternoon at her home. Mrs. Ida Smoot Dusenberry gave an interesting talk on "A Cruise in the Orient." Beautiful musical selections were furnished by a girls' quartet from the B. Y. U. A delicious luncheon was setved to 35 by the hostess: Mrs. Bennett, Mrs. Nellie McEwan, Mrs. Laura Jones, Mrs. Josephine Finlay, and Mrs. Alice Dangerfield. - Young People At Gay Affair Miss Ruth Bourneentertained a few friends at her home Friday evening. Later, they were surprised sur-prised by a group of friends from Salt Lake City. Bridge and Chinese baseball were played, and a delicious luncheon was served. Miss Fay Jones won the bridge high score favor and the Chinese baseball high score prize went to Miss Bernice Vincent. The delightful affair was attended attend-ed by the following: the Misses Fay Jones, Bernice Vincent and Mina Bailey of Prdvo, Gerald Packard, Richard Montgomery, Jerry Lun-dahl Lun-dahl and Lamar Martell of Salt Lake. j. . Bridge Followed By Supper An enjoyable time was spent by a group of friends at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Thomas Friday Fri-day evening. Bridge was played and a delicious de-licious supper was enjoyed at midnight. mid-night. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Hedquist and Stanley Peay of Provo, Miss Virginia Vir-ginia Childs and Mr. and Mrs. Forrest For-rest Thomas of Springville participated par-ticipated in the gay affair. :r -r Daughters Of Pioneers Meet Mrs. Emma Kay, Mrs. Hazel Lewis and Mrs. Sarah E. Thomas were hostesses to the Daughters of Utah Pioneers of Camp No. 2 at the home of Mrs. Kay Thursday afternoon. after-noon. Mrs. Kay gave the historical sketch after which a vocal duet was furnished by Ross Kay and Steele Shipp with guitar accompaniment by Steele Shipp. Two vocal solos were rendered by Miss Rheta Kay, after which duets were-given by Mr. Kay and Mr. Steele, accompanied accom-panied by Miss Kay. Fidelas Girls' Christmas Party A Christmas party will be given by the Fidelas social unit members of the" B. Y. U. Monday evening at 7 o'clock at the home of Miss Helen Rowe. Christmas gifts will be exchanged exchang-ed at this time. "Jail" Is Theme At Dancing Party A novel and delightful social affair, af-fair, in the form of a "jail birds" " dancing party, was given by the Beaux Arts socfc.1 unit of the B. Y. U. Saturday evening in the Fourth ward amusement hall. On entering "jail," the "convicts" were presented with number tags which they were obliged to wear during their "sentence." "Balls and chains" (black balloons) were given to the ladies. Barred windows, rock piles, sledge hammers, nooses and balls and chains added realness to .the scene. During intermission, students of Mrs. Orilla Groneman presented a clever "convicj" tap dance,, and ar. instrumental solo was furnished. As a special feature, the orchestra played "The Prisoner's Song." "Prisoners' rations" were served by the "guards" The following members of the unit, with their partners, attended the gala event: Miss Lucile. Farley, Miss Genevieve Fugal, Miss La-Pearl La-Pearl Bryner, Miss Fern Westing scow. Miss Dorothy Hoover, Mis. Phyllis Hoover, Miss Lillian Terry; Miss Marguerite Romney, Mi.i, Mildred Blackburn, Miss Florence Fowler, Miss Fiances Purrington, Miss Julia Smith, Miss Ruby Street, Miss Ilda Hansen, Miss Gertrude Gourley, Miss Nell Swenson, Miss Gwgn - Brugger and Miss Mary Broadbent. Invited guests, with their part ners, included the following: Miss Louise Jenkins, Miss Jenny Lind Myrup, Miss Jessie Farley, Miss Carol Partridge, Miss Dorotha Jones, Miss. Dance Tuesday At Bonneville "M"Men of the Bonneville ward will give their annual dance" Tuesday Tues-day evening in the ward amusement amuse-ment hall. A splendid eight-piece orchestra will furnish the music and 15 prizes will be given away during the evening. eve-ning. The public is invited.
