The rooms were bright with Christmas decorations. There were 30 relatives and close friends present from Spanish Fork, Salt LYake, Provo, Benjamin and Thistle. The tune was spent at games and at 5:30 a delicious tray luncheon was served. Assisting Assist-ing the hostess in entertaining and serving were her daughters, Mrs- Alma Huff, of Provo Miss; Ruth Sorenson of Salt Lake; Mrs. Leslie Morgan of Spanish Fork and her daughter-in-law. Mrs. Don Sorenson of Salt Lake. The bride received many lovely gifts. Mr. and Mrs. Paul M. Sorenson Soren-son of Kimbshan Cove, Alaska, have spent the holidays here with Mr. and Mrs. Karl M. Sorenson. Sor-enson. Mr. Sorenson hag gone to Seattle, Washington, on a business busi-ness trip ad Mrs- Sorenson will remain in Spanish Fork for two months visiting with his mother and her mother, Mrs. Emma Evans.- Mr.1 Sorenson -wiitt: return re-turn to Alaska from Washington. She will be joined by Mr. Taylor wfcd left the same day with Troop 72 of the Boy. Scouts and they will return home together. .'.' Dr. . and Mrs. Blair G. Johns of Los Angeles, California, accompanied ac-companied by Mr. and Mrs. Elmo Modue and family of Tarzana, California, spent the Christmas vacation visiting with relatives and frends in Spansh Fork, Provo and other surrounding towns. They left for their homes Tuesday afteroon, Dec. 27. The members of the Fidelous club held their annual Christmas party Tuesday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. D. C. Bowen which was festive with Christmas decorations. A delicious delic-ious luncheon was served at the small tables at 8:30. Progressive 500 followed, Mrs. Ben L. Isaac and Bill Money winning the high score favors and Mrs. Annie Taylor Tay-lor and Mr. Ben L. Isaac the consolation favors. Special guests were Mr. and Mrs. D. Foster Bowen of Burley, Idaho. Nine couples of the club members were present and both ladies and men exchanged Christmas gifts adding add-ing to the merriment of the evening. eve-ning. FATALLY INJURED PAYETTE, 'Idaho, Dec. 29 (ILE Lulu McMahan, 54, superintendent superintend-ent of public instruction of Adams county, was injured fatally early today when a car in which she was riding collided with a truck driven by Albert Alder of Weiser, on a curve in the highway west of Fruitland early today. She died a short time later at an Ontorio hospital. Four other passengers and the truck driver were only slightly injured. Christensen received a fractured, frac-tured, left arm, severe head injuries, in-juries, cuts and bruises on his hands. Oscar Johnson, also of Boulder City and with whom he was traveling, received deep head lacerations; he was en route to his family at Payson. The remaining $6,000 Will be paid during the year. Thistle Looking For Postmaster THISTLE iThis little community com-munity will continue to have a postoffice provided it can get a postmaster. Recently inspectors after removing re-moving the then postmaster for "padding" returns recommended the office be closed as no one appeared willing to serve. However, townsmen have appealed ap-pealed to Congressman J. Will Robinson and the postoffice de partment will resume its post master search. FRANCO CLAIMS GREAT VICTORY ' HENDAYE, French Spanish Boarder, Dec. 29 UE1 Military headquarters of Gen. Francisco Franco announced today that the entire loyalist defense line in the important Balaguer sector had been smashed by the insurgent offensive of-fensive toward Barcelona. The insurgent announcement claimed that the full force of the offensive against Catalonia had been turned, against the loyalist lines and hat, after heavy artillery and aerial bombardment, the entire en-tire Balaguer bridgehead defenses of the loyalists collapsed. The announcemenlt claimed capture of the entire government fortification system in that sector.. sec-tor.. The Balaguer sector of the loyalist defenses had been holding out stubbornly as the center link in a line of forifications along the Segre river.
