WASHINGTON, April 28 (U.P) Henry Ford's silence following his meeting with President Roosevelt Roose-velt disappointed administration officials today. They had hoped that the millionaire mil-lionaire industrialist and foe of New Deal policies would publicly line up with 16 businessmen who have pledged themselves o cooperate coop-erate with the government in the fight on depression. Ford, however, confined his discussion dis-cussion of the meeting to the remark that it was "very pleasant." pleas-ant." What he didn't say was regarded as of more signif iicance. "Country All Right" In a brief interview aboard a New York-bound train following follow-ing a two-hour luncheon conference confer-ence with the president, Ford said that he is convinced the "country is all right and will continue con-tinue to be all right." Asked whether he came to any difinite understandnig with the President concerning national problems, he hastily turned the interview to other topics, saying that he did not "want to talk about that " The White House was equally reluctant to discuss the meeting. Immedaitely following the conference, con-ference, the president's secretary, Stephen T. Early informed the press that there would be no statement. I Meanwhile, securities anu ex change commission John W. Hanes considered the advisability of summoning the 16 business ex ecutives who signed of cooperation to a the pledge meeting in Washington. Hanes' aides said that he intended in-tended to communicate with the various executives and convey to them Secretary of Commerce Daniel Dan-iel C. Roper's suggestion that they draft a concrete program of joint business-government recovery recov-ery aids. SKC Chairman William O. Doug las disc lowed that President Roosevelt was highly pleased with recent modification of SEC regulations regu-lations to facilitate small business financing.
