The event climaxed the winter program, and was attended by the largest group ever to partici-puate partici-puate in one of these annual night frolics. The "hoboes" were divided into groups and named accordingly, and following an evening of competitive com-petitive games, the prize went to the "Great American Bums" group. A bonfire party and weiner and marshmallow roast followed, and community singing was a delightful feature Early in the evening, group pictures were taken. ' Mrs. Jena V. PENROD 142 North First East Relief Society Entertains Daughters Pioneer ward Relief Society members entertained their daughters daugh-ters at the ward hall Tuesday afternoon, aft-ernoon, a delightful program and social being enjoyed, with Mrs. Myra Killpack in charge. Mrs. Delphia Davis, presented the first part of the lesson on "Julia Ward Howe," after which Mrs. Vivian Taylor of the stake board, gave an interesting talk on the subject, "Utah, a Lilac State." Vocal solos were rendered by Mrs. Ethel Harding and Mrs. Ida Durrant gave an interesting sketch of the life of Clarissa Williams, a past general Relief society president. presi-dent. Also, she read a poem, "Daughter of Mine" written by Mrs. Mabel Tanner, of Pioneer ward. Mi-s. Sophia Beck rendered piano selections, and Mi?3 Lois Durrant gave a reading. fi Birthday Party Enjoyed By Kiddies Mrs. Cecil Wentz gave a birtV day party for her seven-year-old daughter, Lawanna. Tuesday after school at the family home. An enjoyble time was spent by the youngsters playing games, following fol-lowing which a delicious luncheon was served. VETERAN PRODUCER DIES NEW YORK, April 21 U.P Gus Hill, 79, famous old - time actor and producer, who claimed to have discovered such stars as Weber and Fields, Charles Chaplin Chap-lin and Sophia Tucker, is dead. William Francisco Glover. 90-year-old farmer who was said to have been the first male white child born in San Francisco, diod trerp today. - Glover was born Sept. 26, 1946. in San Francisco. Gleaner class were delightfully de-lightfully entertained Tuesday evening with an informative talk by Mrs. Madge De Cordy of New York City, on the subject, "Quest for Beauty." A short time ago, Mr. and Mrs. Beckstrom Beck-strom entertained her brothers and sisters of the Argyle family at a similar function in- honor of Clarence Beckstrom. It is interesting inter-esting to recall in connection with Elder Beckstrom's mission, that he is following in the footsteps of his grandfather, the late John Beckstrom. who was born in Sweden Swe-den and after coming to Utah to live, he filled a mission to his native na-tive country, about thirty years ago.
