I The schedule Friday: j Juab at Payson. Spanish Fork at Springville. j Although the crew from Nephi is favored to take the measure of j the Payson team handily, a stiff er j battle is expjected on the Spring- j ville floor where the Red Devils j tangle with the Spanish Fork I crew. I Spanish Fork's capable club is 1 second to Juab in . the division, j having won three games, but i Springville is only a step behind j and showing its best form of the season. In a game that went into j three extra periods last Friday, j the Red Devils of Coach Owen 1 Rowe upset Tin tic. ALWAYS AT A POPULAR PRICE Only 3 Games Remain In Prep Division Here Peterson and Allen of Provo in Scoring Lead; Cavemen Play Lehi. Only three more games remain in the Alpine division basketball tournament and American Fork is still situated on top of the division, di-vision, undefeated. The Cavemen travel to Lehi Friday in what may be one of their toughest games of the season, sea-son, inasmuch as the rivalry Is intense between the schools and the Pioneers have recently shown a deal of improvement. The complete com-plete schedule Friday: Pleasant Grove at B. Y. High. Provo at Lincoln. American Fork at Lehj. Chief worry for the Forkers, however, is their final game of the season when they entertain the Provo Bulldogs on the A. F. floor. Coach Grant Ingersoll's Cavemen tipped the Provoans over in their first meeting, winning by one point. A reversal of this is not unlikely considering the brilliance of the Bulldog team. Leading Scorers A glance at the scoring totals for the season so far eives a clear idea of part of the Bulldogs' power. Vernon Peterson, forward, who was switched from a guard spot, leads the division with 104 points and the second place is held by his blond teammate, Glen Allen, center, who has scored 102. Provo is an all-around scoring aggregation, and has one of the niftiest passing combinations in the state when it is clicking right. The Cavemen will not only have the high-scoring Allen and Peterson Peter-son to contend with in the next meeting, but with Hoover, who is recovering rapidly from a sprained sprain-ed ankle, and Willis Daniels, who is gaining back his speed after a siege of scarlet fever. Then, too, LaNell Hayward, guard, while not in the scoring department like Peterson or Allen, is regarded as the best "money" player on the team. That is, he goes best when the going is hardest. The rugged Jensen at guard and the improved Colton at forward, for-ward, are valuable assets. Coach Glen Simmons has a fine group I of reserves, a department in which j American Fork is likewise strong. The Cavemen are rugged, ex-i ex-i cedent at long shots and a cap- able team all around, with Devitt, i Groesbeck and Gardner as the standouts.
