FINDS LOST GOLF BALL By Aidon Rachre Uintah Basin News Service Henry White, Salt Lake City, fought off a challenge from other SLC golfers, Ryan Rhees and Tracy Zobell to win the Vernal Classic at the Dinaland Course with a two-day tally of 137, June 21-22. White, a University of Utah graduate, won the top prize at $1700. White is a previous winner of tournaments in Vernal and Roosevelt. Par for the meet was 144. White locked up the tournament tour-nament win when challenger, Rhees bogeyed the second-to-last hole 2 14 yard No. 17 and White netted a par three. "That put the nail in the coffin and White won by three," stated Dinaland Golf Pro Todd Meyer, who is in his first year as the local pro. Previously he was at the West Jordan Course. Earlier Sunday, June 22, White ran into some trouble when he lost his ball on a back nine hole. By rales White had five minutes to find his ball and the official scorer, who was driving driv-ing a cart located the ball just in time. "If he hadn't found his ball it would have cost him a couple of shots," stated Dinaland's Meyer. Placing second in the pro division di-vision were Rhees and Zobell at 140. They won $950. JR Shears, Derek Penman and Scott Brandt tied for fourth at 142. They won $515 each. Dustin Volk was seventh sev-enth at 143 and won $420. Mark Owen was eighth at 144 and picked up$410. Pete Stone placed ninth at 146 and collected $400. Aaron Brown, Shyler Andreason and Eric Winder of Colorado tied for tenth at 147. They bagged $380. Tom Sisk won the A flight gross class at 154 and netted $600. Blake Rollins was second at 155 and Nolan Massey third at 157. Also placing were: Mike Rowley, Ross Reed, fourth, 160; Emilo Aguayo, Shane Moore, 161. Winning the A flight net at 136 was Curtis Olsen. He won $600. Terry Dickerson was second sec-ond at 139 and JR Godfrey third at 140. Also taking honors were: Dave Schoepp, fourth, 141;Craig Draper, fifth, 143; Don Monsen, Lee Gardiner, sixth, 144. B flight gross champion is Dan Chambers at 150. He won $670. Taking second was Jess May at 163. Mike McKee was third at 165. Also placing were: Rodney Engle, fourth, 171; Dennis An-derson An-derson Doyle Huber, fifth, 172; Todd Shinerseventh, 177: John Southern up in Northeastern North-eastern Utah won the B flight net class at 128. He netted $670. Jim Denton was second at 134 and Mike Fritz third at 136.
