The vaccine was received and shipped throughout Utah this April and recalled on Thursday. The vaccine's manufacturer, Merck, voluntarily recalled 11 lots of the Hib vaccine and two lots of a combination Hib and Hepatitis B vaccine. The vaccine protects against meningitis, pneumonia and other life-threatening and disabling bacterial diseases. The Utah Immunization Pro gram is contactingproviders who have received recalled vaccines and are asking them to immediately immedi-ately discontinue use of any of the affected lots and to return the vaccine to the distributor or manufacturer. . Merck says it initiated the recall as a precaution because a routine test in October found bacterial contamination on production pro-duction equipment; none has been found in vaccine so far. riinh Tilr ri nrririrtvri 54 North Vernal Avenue Vernal, Utah 435-789-351 1 www.vernal.com 1 2 3 1 . 6 74528 9 3 7 5 AAAAJ LI 2 1 4 7j I I 3 8 I - . , ; . ... , ... . . . ... ... , . v - v V-.- .v i ; ' ? The responsible development of our resources has always played an important role in Utah's economic well-being, especially in our rural communities. Continued access to public lands means jobs and economic health for our rural areas. It also creates tax revenues that benefit everyone in our state. Don't let out-of-state special interests decide Utah's future. Tell the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) that you want to keep public lands available for recreation and economic development. After all, the future isn't something you inherit, it's something you create. Go to www.PureUtah.us to send your comment to the BLM.
