Show B1 Wednesday, August 15, 2007 Volunteers, la By Lb Bowa Express Associate Editor The Uintah County Fair is underway. And while final fair preparation prepara-tion activities didn't start until this past weekend,' committees who plan the various portions of the fair have been working on the event for several months. "It's fun," said second-year volunteer Shawndell Mayes, who is part of the home arts and crafts committee. She and other committee members were busy Monday accepting the hundreds of entries which will be judged and on display at Western Park throughout the week. Kari Doherty, a five-year volunteer said she has enjoyed working on the home arts and crafts committee. "I brought some entries in one year and I've been friends with committee chairperson Anita Calder for years," she explained. "She asked me to help and I've been involved ever since." At the other end of the convention con-vention room, 4-H was busy accepting ac-cepting several entries and across the hall, 4-H members prepared for the fashion review with Wade Olsen and Peggy Marshall helping help-ing oversee the work. "It's a good opportunity to show off their creations," said Olsen. And shile he noted there is some judging involved, the level of criticism is much lower than what would be expected at a traditional fashion show. Hanna Haslem, 14, who was working on the stage with Olsen and Marshall said this is her fifth year in 4-H. "It s pretty fun to model wnat you ve made.
