Richard Henderson, the event's director, explained, "It was a good event. I realized at the end of the run that it was longer than it should have been." The overall winner for the men's division was Caleb Nelson, followed by Jeff Struthers. Carl Dieckmann finished third. In the women"s division, Amber Martin placed second, with Sarah McPhee finishing second, and Emily Sullivan taking third. Henderson added, "It gave us a chance to see where our crosscountry cross-country kids will be next year." The race began in the Uintah High School parking lot. From there the racers ran to 1500 North. Turning north, they ran back through the neighborhood to the high school. In conjunction with the run a youth track meet was also held. Henderson explained, "Oneof the highlights of the event was the 50-meter hurdles. We had a one-foot hurdle for the 9 and under division. Along with the hurdle race there was a high jump event that began at two feet. "The kids had a lot of fun. We had great sponsors and great prizes," Henderson concluded. The Blue Jays went down early in the game, but fought back to win in an extra seventh inning. The teams were tied 3-3 through four, but in the fifth the A's jumped to a lead of 5-3. The lead didn't last long as the Jays opened up the sixth with a home run sent over the fence by Bo Lamb. Lamb also collected a single. Daniel Long hit a single following the solo, and then stole second. Ted Peters brought Long " v v -III" V "a 7 c home withahard-hitdouble. The inning ended with the score tied at five. The A's failed to score during the top of the seventh. The Jays first two batters where caught out and then Colton Dofolmire hit a single. He tried to steal second and two wild throws advanced him from first to home for the win, 6-5. Pitching for the A's was Austin Aus-tin Anders and JaceBilbey. Dillon Hanks, who hit two doubles, led the A's. Following him was Anders An-ders with a single and a double, with Aden Shorthill grabbing two singles along with Treven Dohorty. Trevor Obermuller hit double and Kaden Jackson added a single. Dolfomire pitched for the game for the Jays with Lamb closing. clos-ing.
