Show C8 Wednesday, April n, 2007 Vernal Express Long Range Transportation Plan for Utah's rural areas available for public comment The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) will release the Long Range Transportation Plan 2007-2030 for public comment from March 26, 2007 through April 26, 2007. This plan focuses on capacity projects in the rural and small urban areas of Utah. It can be reviewed at local libraries throughout the state, at UDOT Region offices or online at www. udotutah.gov. "Planning for future transportation transpor-tation projects is a comprehensive comprehen-sive process that requires the input and perspective of community com-munity members, elected offi cials and public agencies," said UDOT Planning Director John Thomas. "Utah is experiencing experienc-ing tremendous growth and an increased demand for transportation transpor-tation facilities." Small urban areas across the state are growing rapidly. The St George area's population has increased from approximately 26,000 residents in 1980 to more than 90,000 in 2000. It is expected expect-ed to grow to more than 218,000 by 2030. Similarly, Cedar City, Heber City, Hurricane, Moab, Tooele, and Vernal all are growing grow-ing at record rates. "Feedback from those who use our state highways on a daily basis helps us identify transportation transpor-tation solutions that will meet the needs of Utah communities," communi-ties," said Thomas. In addition to this plan focusing on rural areas, separate sepa-rate plans have been written for the metropolitan areas under the direction of the Cache Metropolitan Planning Organization (CMPO), Wasatch Front Regional Council (WFRC), Mountainland Association of Governments (MAG) and the Dixie Metropolitan Planning Organization (DMPO). When available, these plans may also be accessed on UDOT's website. Once public comments are reviewed, an executive summary sum-mary of all five plans will be produced. This summary, called the Unified Transportation Plan, is due to be released statewide state-wide in July 2007. i;V V" 7 0 & J t 1 I d J' 7 ' it ST ' 1 l"6 I Outlaw Music The annual Music Rendezvous, under the direction of Bart Parslow of the Outlaw Music Studio, was held recently featuring 30 different music students stu-dents from very little to adult. Judge's tennis team will face Uintah at the Utes home court at 3:15 p.m. The Utes will play soccer on Friday, the 13th at home against Judge. Uintah is just in front of Judge in the standing, but has already lost one game to the Bulldogs this season. That game was an ugly 4-0 shutout, that had Uintah trying to stop Judge's fast paced play. '-; Head Coach Jared McKeachnie felt that Uintah's inexperience on a turf surface attributed to the win. For his theory to hold true, Uintah must beat Judge this week at home, where they wiH play the final game on a grass surface. Varsity begins at 3:30 p.m., JV at 5 p.m. : |
