Show A4 Vernal Express Obituaries Steven Richard Wallis Steven Richard Wallis, born Feb. 13 1954, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2007 from a pulmonary embolism in the early hours of the morning, v Wallis was a graduate of Brigham Young University with a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism. While in school, he took classes in photography, a passion that stayed with him for the rest of his life. A figurehead in the community, commu-nity, Ke worked at and rah the Vernal Express almost all of his life and officially took over -the business in 2003. Wallis was a strong member of the LDS church, and served a mission to Lima, Peru from 1973-1975; and also served in many- church callings including includ-ing temple worker and as part of the bishopric. , He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hiking, camping, fishing, hunting, riding on his motorcycle and his newest pursuit, pur-suit, snowboarding. - Wallis was a proud father of five, and is survived by his children chil-dren Dustin, Christopher (Kit), On behalf of the Laura (Rgrwley Tamily we would life to express our thanksforallofthe many acts of fondness shown to us in our time of sorrow. Wallis; and his siblings Mark, Neil, David, Brian, and Cindy Butler. He was preceded in death by. his father, Jack R. Wallis. The funeral will take place Friday, Feb. 2, beginning at 11 a.m. at the Maeser Stake Center. A viewing will be held Thursday, Feb. 1, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Thomson-Blackburn Mortuary, and also Friday morning before services from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Lipphardt Our wonderful mother, and grandmother, Lucille Fredricka Hansen Lipphardt passed away peacefully in her sleep just 14 days shy of her 90th birthday on Jan. 26, 2007. Lucille was born to Fredericka and Parley Hansen of Mt Pleasant, Utah. She married Albert Lewis Lipphardt Oct. 2, 1938 in Provo, Utah. Lucille was a school teacher and librarian at the Vernal Jr. High for over 30 years. After her retirement, she loved working work-ing at Ashton's Department Store. Lucille loved to travel. She would only come home to wash her clothes, and then leave again for another trip. She loved going to Wendover, Nev. with her friends, and playing cards was her passion. Lucille loved life, and made every day Norman Keith 'Hoot' Gibson Norman Keith (Hoot) Gibson of Vernal returned to his Father in Heaven at the age of 75, on Jan. 24, 2007. " He was born in Price on Dec. 17, 1931 to Arthur Elroy and Ethel Menelda Trauntvein , Gibson. His family moved to Orem when he was young where they had several fruit trees and raised foxes. Ethel passed away in 1936 and his father later married Thelma Johnson in 1950. He graduated from Lincoln High May 26, 1950. In 1952, at the age of 21 he joined the military where he served in the Korean War, then in March of 1960 was honorably discharged. He married mar-ried Georgia Rae Richardson in 1955 had one daughter (Geri) .,! ;1 lllllfi k --1 ' I Lucille Lipphardt of her life great. . She is survived by her children, chil-dren, Patricia L. (Gary) Sutton of Vernal; Marilee Ann (Buzz). Nelson of Salt Lake City, Utah; 4 grandchildren, Shelly Sutton Hartman, Kelly Nelson Miles, Kristin Nelson Capasso, Kerry Nelson, and her 3 great-grandchildren, Christian Gary Hartman, Tyler Edward Nelson 14, and Alexis Keene Capasso 4. She is preceded in death Norman 'Hoot' Gibson and later divorced. He married Georgina Bullock in 1960; they later had their marriage solemnized sol-emnized in the Logan Temple. They lived in Lindon, Provo, and finally settled in Orem where they raised their five children. He worked at Geneva Steel for 37 years and was recognized rec-ognized for such long service. He and his wife .and son made one more move, which brought them to Vernal where they chose to retire. . Even then he didn't truly retire. He worked at Deseret Industries for awhile after they moved to Vernal. He loved to be with his family, to hear how we were all doing, and being of service as best he could to his family. He liked to tinker in his garden and wander around his yard. We will all miss him. . He was preceded in death by an older brother; his mother Ethel; his father; a grandson; Martha Eileen Vendetti Martha Eileen Vendetti, 88, of Green River, Wyo., died Friday, Jan. 26, 2007, at Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County after a short illness. 4 She was. born July 25, 1918 in Wetmore, Colo., where she was raised with three brothers broth-ers and a sister. Eileen spent the majority of her life in the Wetmore, Florence, and Pueblo areas. She and her husband, Joe, moved to East Carbon, Utah in 1956 and remained there until shortly after his death in 1983. She returned to Pueblo in 1984, and then moved to Green WE ONLY CARE Lucille Lipphardt by her husband Albert Lewis Lipphardt, who passed away in Nov. 17, 1974; her brother, - Bill Parley Hansen; and sisters, Helen Paulsen Cluff, Alice H. Ashton, and Crystal H. Smith. Memorial services will be held at Thomson-Blackburn Vernal Mortuary, Feb. 10, 2007 at 11 a.m. Luncheon will follow at the Kingsbury Community Church at 12 noon. l J : Norman 'Hoot' Gibson and his wife Georgina. Spending time in the outdoors, out-doors, playing cards and, of late, bingo were a few of her Wilt lMsfiiftyftf)i!ipflr ABOUT ONE THING, v J Sarah Glines Sarah Glines Sarah Glines 93, died Friday Jan. 26, 2007 at her home in. Vernal. Sarah was born Nov. 12, 1913 in Hyden, Utah to Roger and Eliza Moon Horrocks. She was the 10th child of a family of 13 children. She married her childhood sweetheart Dec. 10, 1931 in the Salt Lake Temple the day he returned from his mission. They recently celebrated their 75th anniversary. She is survived by husband Lyle W. Glines (96), and four ' children; three boys: Charles Ray and Lowell of Vernal, Veral (Judy) of South Jordan; and a daughter Shirley (John) Cameron of Roosevelt; 11 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, 9 great-great-grandchildren; 2 brothers: James (Betty) and Ervin (Ellen) Horrocks; and one sister, Reva Merkley. She is preceded in death by her parents; six brothers; two sisters; one baby sister; and one grandson, Derek Glines. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2007 at 11 a.m. at Thomson-Blackburn Thomson-Blackburn Vernal Mortuary. Friends and family visited one hour prior to the services at the Mortuary. Burial was in the Rock Peint Cemetery under the direction of Thomson-Blackburn Vernal Mortuary. hobbies, but Eileen's family fam-ily was her life. Seven children mourn her loss (Alvin and Dick of Pueblo, Colo., Janice of Snohomish, Wash., Ed of Lovelock, Nev., Sharon and Betty Jo of Vernal and Joe of Green River, Wyo.). She cherished cher-ished her children, 16 grandchildren grand-children and 17 great-grandchildren. Her energy, humming, and sense of humor were only a few signs of a tremendous attitude. atti-tude. And oh what a cook! Her eyes spoke volumes and she possessed a wonderful glow, especially when speaking of or spending time with family. Following cremation at the Vase White Mountain Crematory the family and clcse friends will take part in , the spreading of her ashes later this summer.
