Show Chamber helps celebrate opening of new business Vernal Express, Wednesday, May 3. 2006 A9 The truth about cats and babies The Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting ceremony ceremo-ny announcing the opening of Attitude Modeling on Thursday, April 28. Owners Albert Young and Wendy Atwood along with several of their models were present. Atwood announced that in the one month they have been open, they have had over 100 people apply to be models. Atwood hopes to help those interested learn modeling techniques and gain exposure and experience in the industry. Atwood has worked with male and female, adult and child models. Atwood began doing modeling model-ing work at 15 and later became the director of Holton, Co., one of the largest Salt Lake City agencies at the time. She has always wanted to run her own modeling business. "This is what I really enjoy out of life." On May 18, Atwood will hold her first fashion show at the Western Plaza. The show will be a fund raiser for homeless animals. "The important thing to remember," said Atwood, "is that the models in magazines or on TV commercials, don't really look that way in real life. It isn't necessary to starve yourself your-self or run out and get plastic surgery to be successful as a model. Computers and studio lights play a big part." Atwood said she stresses the health of her models and mentioned that full-figured models are really in high demand. Diana Simpkins, who just signed up with Atwood said, "I'm older, but I thought it would be a great thing just to try out for fun. You never know where it will go. It is a great opportunity to have fun. At my age, I have nothing to lose, it is just fun trying." You've all heard the old wive's tales about cats and babies "When a cat smells the milk on a baby's breath, it will lick their mouth and smother them" and others. Stories like these are based on ignorance, not fact Yes, your fry W G .
