He was bom on Sept. 23, 1964 to Richard and Peggy Haycock. He married his true love. Amy Stephenson, Dec. 4, 1999. Kent graduated from Olympus High School. He attended Utah State University and Mesa Community College. He worked in the computer com-puter information technology field. Was a member of the LDS Church. Kent loved the outdoors. He was a loving husband, father, stepfather, step-father, grandfather, brother, son. Kent was a very spiritual person who knew his calling in life was to be a g(xxl husband and father. Everyone who knew him never doubted his love for his family. He always had a special place in his heart for his kids. Kent was a very loyal friend to all. Kent is survived by his w ife.Amy, and his children: Brittany Haas, Adison Haycock. Jake Collier, Harley Collier, Darci Haycock, Jene' Haycock, grandchild Kay lee Abney; his parents, Richard and Peggy Haycock and siblings: Richard (Beverly) I laycock, Sharyn (Dwight) Blackburn, Susan (Craig) Bruderer. David John, 1st Counselor of the Vernal LDS 6th Ward Bishopric conducted the services. ser-vices. The family prayer was said by Garth Atwood and the prelude and postlude music was played by Patty John. Duane Hall performed the musical number, "When My Blue Moon Turns to Gold Again" and Veda Jorgensen said the opening open-ing prayer. Jeffrey Neal Winward Jeff rey Neal Winward, age 49, passed away August 23, 2004 in West Valley City, Utah after nearly a year battling cancer. He was born on July 12, 1955 in Salt Lake City, Utah to F.lna Gray and Don F. Winward. He was married mar-ried to Judy Flach on Jan. 15, 1983. He is survived by his mother, Elna G. Winward, three brothers, Robert (Diana) of Sandy, Clyde (Judy) of Florida, and Gaylon (Peggie) of Riverton. Along with his stepdaughter, step-daughter, Aleta Bringhurst, step-grandchildren. step-grandchildren. Shay Lynn, and Niko. Jeffrey is preceded in death by his father, Don F. Winward, who passed away May 28, 2003, and wife Judy, who passed away on February 3, 2002. Jeffrey 's mother, Jeffrey will be buried in the Vernal Memorial Park with the ashes of his beloved wife, Judv. Hannah Maureen Hannah Maureen James was born on August 17 , 2004 and passed away on August 17, 2004. Hannah is the daughter of Casey and Mandy James of Vernal. She is survived by her mommy, Mandy James, and her daddy, Casey James. Along with her brothers, Aaron James and Lawrence James and her sisters, Faithe James and Marie James. Her grandparents, Monty and Vicki Ellis, and grandmother, Wendy Hansen and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and great friends. Our angel passed away before her time, she will always be loved and cherished by all that love her. Her Thank You The family and friends of Miles Hall would like to express our heartfelt thanks to all who supported Miles the last few months of his life. The nursing staff at the Uintah Care Center w ho took such good care of him. To Dr. Hughes for the kindness and care he gave. A luncheon was served at the Leo Jorgensen residence furnished by the Vernal LDS 6th Ward Relief Society. James little soul was just too perfect for this world to see. Her memory will live on. in all of her family. She is a guardian angel sent to watch over us until we meet again. ' " ' Audrey Irene Miller Wooley Audrey Irene Miller Wooley, age 68, passed away August 1 8, 2004. Audrey w as born Feb. 4, 1936 in Yoder, Wyo., the youngest child of Joseph Johannes and Minnie Louisa Holdeman Miller. The family later moved to Pinedale, Wyo. Audrey received the Sublette Country Spelling Award in 1950. She graduated from Pinedale High School and married Charles Eugene Robertson August 17, 1953 in Jackson, Wyo., but they later divorced. While married they lived in Wyoming, North Carolina and Alaska. She married Arthur Gibson April 14, 1963 in Pinedale, but later divorced. While married they lived in Wyoming and California. Third time being the charm, she found the man she would spend the rest of her life with. While living in Lusk, Wyoming she met Weldon E. Wooley and he moved her and her six children to Vernal. They were married December 27, 1970. She could always be found working work-ing by his side on any project. Weldon is the reason she became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She and four of her children were baptized bap-tized and confirmed March 26, 1971. She was an active member of the church and served in many callings. She was currently serving serv-ing as the Relief Society Visiting Teaching Coordinator. She always did more than was required and was always there to help. Audrey enjoyed crocheting, knitting, any form of craftwork, fishing and visiting vis-iting with anyone who would listen. She played the piano and enjoyed singing. She was a member of the Apple Blossoms. She also loved doing family history. Although she submitted and had the work done for many of her family members, she did not receive her own endowments until November of 2002. She is survived by her husband, Derek L. Holt Derek L. Holt, age 47, passed away on August 9, 2004. He was born on January 16, 1957 in Boulder City, Nevada to Loy and Louis Holt. Derek loved spending time with his friends, and listening listen-ing to Beetles music. Derek loved plants. He enjoyed taking care of them, and watching them grow. Derek is survived by his significant signifi-cant other, Lola Simmons of seven years, who will cherish him always. Derek is also survived by his mother, moth-er, Loy Pfeiler and step father, Phil Pfeiler, his stepmother, Micky Holt, and his brothers. Randy Holt, Jason (Sally) Holt, Lou (Velinda) Holt, Photos needed for 9th annual juried show Several changes have been made to enhance the upcoming 9th Annual Juried Photography Show sponsored by the Uintah Arts Council and hosted by the Western Heritage Museum. Christine Y. Smith, Chairperson of Visual Arts, says the changes being made in this year's competition competi-tion include five divisions being offered including Professional, Advanced Amateur. Amateur, Youth and Novice (for those that have never entered in any juried or non-juried show). Smith also says that there will be five categories covering the theme of the show, "Relics of the West": Scenic, Portrait, AnimalsPets Wildlife and Enhanced or Altered Digital. Entry fees per entry are $5 for Youth and Novice, $10 for amateur ama-teur and $15 for Professional nd Advanced Amateur. Entries must be submitted on October 1 2 at the Western Heritage Museum. A reception for artists, their families and the community will be held Oct. 18. The show will be on display Oct. 14 through Nov. 12 and entries must be picked up Nov. 13. Cash prizes will be awarded for this year's Juried Photography Show. Many contribute to Pageant The Miss Uintah County crown has been given and the Pageant is over. Many helped behind the scenes to bring the 2004 Miss Uintah County Pageant to a successful suc-cessful conclusion. Young women participating in pageants such as the Miss Uintah competition are only two pageants aw ay from becoming Miss America. Whomever will be crowned Miss America in September 2005 is in the process now of experiencing a pageant on a local level somewhere in the country. Five well-qualified judges from out of this area made the tough decision this year. Judge Kelly Carter from Orem is the cheer director for Orem Jr. High. Judge Marcela Gubler, also from Orem, is experienced in theatre, music and art. Judge Carolyn McFee, a pianist, is from Heber and mother of a former Miss Wasatch. Judge Dr. Corey Ewan is an instructor at College of Eastern Utah in theater and film. Judge Aria Isaacson is from Las Vegas and enjoys the outdoors. Lindsey Enloe was Judges chairman chair-man of the pageant and was in charge of providing the judges, keeping them sequestered and holding hold-ing the locked briefcase the entire day. All scores were tallied by Robert Foley, CPA and Certified Auditor. Foley weighed in all scores, with high and low scores being discarded discard-ed in all phases of the competition. Contestants were judged in five phases of competition with the private pri-vate interview counting for 49 percent; per-cent; talent, 30 percent; lifestyle and fitness in swimsuit, 10 percent; on-stage interview, 10 percent; and evening wear, 10 percent. The set for this year's Uintah County pageant was rented from the Miss Utah Pageant in Salt Lake City. Miss Uintah County 2004 received a $1,000 cash scholarship and a $2,000 Utah State University Uintah Basin Extension tuition waiver. Both first and second attendants atten-dants received a $250 cash scholarship scholar-ship and $250 USU Uintah Basin tuition waiver. Patricia R. Mitchell Patricia R. Mitchell, age 60, of Roosevelt, passed away August 22, 2004, at the Uintah Basin Medical Center from breast cancer. She was born May 10, 1944, in Bermuda, to Joseph Pedro and Olive Viera. She married Jay Preston Mitchell, March 24, 1967, in Roosevelt, and their marriage was solemnized in the Provo LDS Temple on June 20, 1992. She had a great love of taking care of children and had been a child day care provider for the past 34 years. She was given the Governor's Award for Continuing Service to Children and received a Provider Appreciation Award. Her hobbies included scrapbooking, knitting, crocheting, camping in her RV, shopping, and collecting porcelain por-celain dolls and lighthouses. She was a member of the LDS Church, serving as ward librarian for almost 14 years. Her greatest love was her family and she adored spending time with her grandkids. She is survived by her husband, Jay, Roosevelt; children, Paul (Vicki) Mitchell, Ballard; Robert (Jennifer) Mitchell, Florence, Ariz.; Olivia Smith, Vernal; grandchildren, grandchil-dren, Gabrielle, Charity, Rashae, Chandler, Brittiny, Breanna, Jason, Chester George Freestone Chester George Freestone, age 60, of Vernal, Utah, died August 20, 2004 at his home. Ches was bora March 10, 1944 to Lewis and Stella Freestone in Vernal. He spent most of his life living and working in Vernal. Ches enjoyed hunting and fishing but most of all he enjoyed his work and the looks of a job well done. Ches was a master carpenter and was well known for his work. He amazed many with his craftsmanship. craftsman-ship. Ches is survived by his brother, broth-er, Ben Freestone, and sister Deb (Terry) Cox, sons, Mike (Connie) Freestone, Matt Freestone and Jay Freestone, daughters, Annette Freestone, Andra (John) Brooks, Jessica and Jordan. Grandchildren are Mike, Pete, Michelle, Jillie, Jeremy, Layne, Tyler, Bailee, Carl, Annie, Michael, and Jesi. Greatgrandchildren Great-grandchildren are Jeremy and Tanner. Uintah County Fair Chairman this year was Brian K. Gorum. Pet of the Week L q,AW , The pet of the week is a mixed breed male that looks like a miniature minia-ture version of an English Sheep Dog. He is less than a year old with bright eyes and a tail that wags whenever people come into view. This friendly pup needs a good home with plenty of human contact and play. The animal shelter has a 30-day, no-fee fostering program which will help adopting families determine if they wish to keep the pet permanently. Animals at the shelter can now be viewed online.
