Registration begins for next scrapbooking class Uintah Recreation District and The Robin's Nest are offering another session of "Scrapbooking 101" on March 25 from 7 to 9 p.m. for beginning to intermediate students stu-dents who want to learn the basics of scrapbooking. Registration for the class is only $12 per student, which includes an idea book and paper to create pages. Participants must be 12 years old or older to register, and may register at Uintah Recreation District until Monday, March 22. This class will be held at The Robin's Nest and will be taught by Robin O'Crowley. AARP Tax-Aide offering free tax help American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) Tax-Aide volunteers volun-teers will offer free tax help in the Uintah Basin from Feb. 3 to April 15. AARP Tax-Aide volunteers are trained by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to prepare simple tax forms for seniors and those with low to moderate income. Participants need to take all tax-related tax-related documents and information, including their tax booklet and a copy of last year's return. UHS Honor Society Inducto 23 The Uintah High School Chapter of the National Honor Society has inducted 23 new members at a special spe-cial Feb. 19 program, according to Fred N. Hunting, Honor Society advisor and math educator. Angee Coombs welcomed candidates, candi-dates, members and invited guests. Coombs is president of the UHS Honor Society and the Uintah High School Sterling Scholar in Business in Marketing. The Uintah Hi-Lites Show Choir presented two numbers, directed by Reed M. Hansen and accompanied by John Allred. Spencer Kitchen presented an address on "Service," followed by Heather Hadlock speaking on "Scholarship. Jason Sullivan, UHS Sterling Scholar in music, presented a musical musi-cal number prior to an address on "Character" by Lydia Hall and an address on "Leadership" by Andrea Severson. Honor Society vice president Janessa John administered the Honor Society Oath during the induction ceremony, and UHS Principal Dixie Lee Allen congratu lated the new members. He graduated from Uintah High School in 1996 and attended Dixie State College. He is currently employed with Key Engery Service of Rangely, Colo. The couple will make their home in Rifle, Colo. Winward, a financial advisor with American Express has earned the Mercury Award for achieving outstanding business production pro-duction during her first 20 weeks with the company. AuMiller to celebrate 95th birthday March 8 Ethel AuMiller will celebrate her 95th birthday with her family. She was born March 8, 1909, to George and Eliza Dickson in Gusher. She had four sisters; Georgia Eskelson is the only surviving sur-viving one. She married Harry AuMiller and they had three children: Judy Weldon, the late Lawrence AuMiller and a baby who was stillborn. still-born. They moved to Jensen from Ouray and ran a store in Jensen for 18 years. Ethel eventually sold the store and remained in Jensen for a few years. She has lived in Vernal for the past 28 years.
