People win big at USU Love Boat Night Utah State University (USU) Uintah Basin held its annual Love Boat Night on Saturday, Feb. 28, and gave everyone who attended, a chance to win big money-USU funny money, that is-and fun prizes. As people walked through the door and signed in, they were given $500 in funny money. They then had until 10 p.m. to win all the money they could to spend on prizes, which were sold in an auction. auc-tion. Several i blackjack tables, including a high roller table, a Texas Hold 'Em table, quarter pitching and a bingo table gave everyone a chance to place their bets and attempt to increase their money. Those who had hard luck and ran out of money were given chances to start over again. Anyone who was willing to get up and sing karaoke could earn $200 in funny money. The first few volunteers were also given tickets to the USU rodeo on March 12-13. Around 10 p.m., judges gave two prizes for the best karaoke performances and one prize for the funniest performance. At the end of the night, those who still had money left, got a chance to spend it before they went home. Around $1,200 (in real, U.S. dollars) dol-lars) in prizes were auctioned offk including camping quipmen stereos, portable CD flayers, fishing fish-ing equipment, USU merchandise, movies, CDs and many other prizes. Most bids started at $1,000 in funny money, but there were cheaper items for those who didn't fare well at the tables. Dreamiri of the Green? DeVere Burton that she has earned placement on the Dean's List for the 2003 semester at the College of Southern Idaho. Amanda is studying to become a Veterinary Technician. She carried 21 credit hours last fall. She is working at a local veterinary clinic in Twin Falls, Idaho. Amanda is the daughter of Willia and Denece LeFevre and the granddaughter grand-daughter of Janet LeFevre and Roland and Dorothy Hein of Vernal. Deb Puckett presents Kenny Sue Morey and Nancy Chamberlain with a donation for AVMC. New Cassidy's Club donates to AVMC nil;. On Feb. 12, Deb Puckett, manager manag-er of the New Cassidy's Club, presented pre-sented the Pink Ladies Auxiliary at Ashley Valley Medical Center (AMVC) with a check for over $ 1 ,500. The money was donated by club members during a recent fund raising event. This is the second time the New Cassidy's Club has donated money to the hospital. During the weekly Vernal Chamber luncheon on Feb. 17, Si Hutt, AVMC CEO, presented Puckett with an award of appreciation apprecia-tion from the hospital. "This is the second donation in a year that the New Cassidy's Club has made to help patients in our community," Hutt said. "Their efforts and dedication to help pediatric pedi-atric patients and now victims of abuse truly makes a difference in a time when people feel vulnerable. AVMC is grateful for their caring and their support." The money will be used to purchase pur-chase a special digital camera needed need-ed for documenting abuse and rape cases in the emergency room. The camera is the last piece needed to place AVMC in a position to participate partic-ipate in a state run program for assisting victims of rape and abuse. "We really appreciate the efforts of the New Cassidy's Club and Deb Pucket," AVMC Public Relations Director Debbie Spafford said. "It's wonderful when the community takes an interest in our facility. Working together as a community and a hospital provides a partnership partner-ship that benefits both." Newborns Feb. 18, 2004, a son was born to Debra Burger.
