The groom is from Los Angeles, Calif., and is a graduate of UCLA, and served as a park ranger at Dinosaur National Monument. Through the Stanford Achievement Tcsrs, she is ranked in the top 10 percent in the nation in Science. Also, Carter's work in ceramics earned her a letter in visual arts during dur-ing the 1995-96 school year. and is a full-time mom of a 13-monih 13-monih old. Wish me a Happy 44th birthday Buzz T Shafer and Carole Ann Shafer Shafer and Shafer to be united in marriage June 1 Carole Ann Shafer and Buzz T Shafer have chosen to be married June 1, at the Rangely Christian Church, 501 Darius Ave., in Rangely, Colo. The couple will be honored at a reception directly following fol-lowing the wedding at the Chevron Recreation Hall in Rangely. The bride is the daughter of Mary Ann and Gene Shafer of Vernal. She is an early 1996 graduate of Uintah High School, graduating November 1995. She has recently completed her freshman year of college col-lege at the University of Northern Colorado, Greeley, Colo. She is currently employed at the University in food service, residence resi-dence life and admissions. New youth mayor named Kendra Foley has been named as Vernal City's 1996-97 Youth Mayor. She had served previously on the Youth City Council. Foley, 17, is the daughter of Robert and Laura Foley. She is a junior ju-nior at Uintah High School. Foley is a photography buff who hopes to make her pastime into a career. She is also a member of the UHS tennis team and has been a member of the National Honor Society for three years. A poet, one of Foley's favorite subjects is English. She also enjoys chemistry, and spends her happiest hours outdoors. Foley says she was drawn to the Youth City Council because she enjoys en-joys providing service. "I could sec there were places in the city that needed to be cleaned, and other projects that needed to be done," said Foley. "Youth City Council seemed the way to do it." As a member of the Council last year she helped clean up the Kid's Canal area and made "trauma bears" for abused children. The groom is the son of Sue and Don Shafer of Rangely, Colo. He is a 1993 graduate of Rangely High School. He has attended two years of college at Colorado Northwestern Community College in Rangely, and is currently continuing contin-uing his education at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley. He is currently working for the University grounds crew and is also a Reservist in the United States Army 994th Engineering Bridge Company stationed in Grand Junction. The couple will be continuing their education at the University of Northern Colorado and residing in Greeley. v Kendra Joyce Foley Foley's goal as Youth Mayor is complete larger number of projects. She is especially interested in establishing estab-lishing a junior court system, where youth serve as actual jurors on minor mi-nor court cases involving other youth. Foley will preside over the five-member five-member Youth City Council also named by Vernal City's regular Council last week.
