Anderton, and Jeremy Rich Johnston, son of Mrs. Nina Leishman Johnston and the late Dr. Oliver Budge Johnston, were married on Dec. 12, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Following the-ceremony, the party had a wedr ding dinner at The Inn at Temple Square. Anderton is a graduate of Uintah High School, Brigham Young University, and has a Masters degree de-gree from the University of Utah. DECA finalists in all events Twenty-two students from Uintah High School recently traveled to Ephraim to compete in the Snow College Marketing Day. The competition, com-petition, sponsored by DECA, an association of marketing students, is prestigious among Utah's high schools because full tuition, one-year one-year scholarships are given to all first place winners. This year, 17 high schools were represented at the competition. For the first time in the history of the competition, one high school had finalists in every single event. UHS was the proud recipient of this recognition. She is presently employed by the National Institute of Consulting Services. Johnston is a graduate of Cottonwood High School and Brigham Young University. He served an LDS mission in the Sapporo, Japan Mission. He is a financial fi-nancial consultant working for Brock and Associates. An open house will be held on Jan. 13, at 1425 West Main in Vernal. Jason Thompson was awarded second place. In the "Advertising Campaign" event, students must present a three-month promotional event for a business of their choice. As a team, Tom Howells and Byron Wiscombe received the second place award after a tough final round with Orem High School. 139 N. A reception will be given in their honor at the Jensen LDS Chapel from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., on Dec. 15. The bride is the daughter of Gawain and Addie Snow of Jensen. She is a 1994 graduate of Uintah High School, and is currently attending at-tending Utah State University in Logan. The "Sales Representative" competition com-petition requires students to present an entire sales presentation for a product of their choice and to obtain ob-tain an order for the product. Denver Olmstead received the second sec-ond place award, and Nicole Dennett Was a finalist. The "Human Resource Management" competition requires students to solve a major personnel problem and present the solution to a panel of judges. In this event, Jeremy Wells was UHS's only finalist. fi-nalist. Four areas of testing were also given. In the area of retail merchandising, merchan-dising, Tom Howells received the first place award and a one-year scholarship. In the area of general marketing, Blake Martinsen received re-ceived the second place award, and in international marketing, Gus Miller was the recipient of the second sec-ond place award, and Martinsen and Patrick Bowman were both finalists. fi-nalists. In the area - of business math, Jason Olsen received the third place award. The next major competition for the UHS DECA team will be at Utah Valley State College in January where UHS will compete with 10 high schools from the Utah Valley area. This regional competition competi-tion is a prerequisite for the state competition, which will be in early spring. THE ,ENESCO COLLECTION and Rebekah Anne Snow The groom is the son of Arlo and Elizabeth Anderson of Lakewood, Colo. He is a 1991 graduate of a high school in Denver, Colo., and is currently attending Utah State University in Logan. Joan Hacking Employee of the Year : Joan Hacking has been chosen Employee of the . Year at Jones Paint and Glass. Miss Hacking has been a purchasing purchas-ing agent at the company for the past five years. Her job involves purchasing materials, ordering inventory, in-ventory, advertising, and managing the accounting department. She travels to the buyers shows to find out what new products are available to the home owner. Travel also extended ex-tended to the National Home Builders Shows in Las Vegas, Nev. Hacking is the daughter of John and Karen Hacking. She was raised in Vernal, and is a graduate of Uintah High School. Her hobbies include playing softball, volleyball, and crafts. Hacking exclaims "The best part of my job is the people I work with." Breakfast with Santa The Uintah Recreation Association will be sponsoring "Breakfast with Santa" on Saturday morning, Dec. 23, at the Western Park from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Boys and girls ages four to seven will have an opportunity to have a breakfast snack with Santa Claus, give him their Christmas list and have their picture taken with him. Cost for the morning of songs, activities ac-tivities and fun is $5 per child. Space for this special event is limited limit-ed to the first 40 children and they must register through the Uintah Recreation Association office.
