Indicate which team you think will win (do not need to pick score). 2. Pick the tie-breaker by writing what you think will be the final score of the tie-breaker game. The tie breaker will count as a correct of incorrect pick during the initial scoring. Then, if needed, the scores of the tiebreaker tie-breaker will be used to break the ties as outlined in 6 and 7 below. 3. All entries must be turned into the Recreation Office or the Vernal Express office by 5:00 p.m. the Friday before that week's games or post marked by Friday and received in the mail no later than Monday. 4. One weekly winner will be awarded each week. Additional prizes may be awarded when available. Points will be given to the top ten finishers fin-ishers each week. During the playoffs the point values will be doubled. At the end of the season awards will be given to the top finishers. 5. Only original entry forms from the Vernal Express will be accepted. No photo copies. 6. Games left blank will be counted as incorrect picks. If a winning team is indicated on the tie-breaker, but no score is given then the pick will be counted in the initial scoring, but will be given last place in tie breaker determination. 7. Ties will be broken by using the tie breaker, the person with the smallest point differential between actual scores and predicted scores will win the tie breaker. If after using the tie breaker there is still a tie, then whoever had the closest score to the winning team will be the winner. win-ner. If at this point there is a tie then the point will be split among the tied contestant. Before the contest began, Shafcr approached Summit's coach and explained ex-plained his team's situation. I told him we were going to leave our varsity var-sity in the entire contest to score as many goals as possible. He totally understood. There was no hard feelings feel-ings what so-ever." As it turned out, Uintah's 7-0 victory vic-tory over South Summit was more than enough due to Rowland Halls 3-2 defeat at Lehi. Of course, none of the players knew that during the game. "I think when I told him we would try to score as many goals as possible, it gave his team an easier goal to focus on," Shafer said. "Instead of winning, he could tell his kids to hold us to as few goals as possible." Playing in heavy winds which favored a kick-and-run team like South Summit, Uintah was still able to get their offensive attack rolling. But the winds did aid South Summit in holding the Uintah's offensive output below par. "We use a passing, pass-ing, ball control style offense. The wind really played havoc with us. The girls really hustled and worked hard to make the offense work," Shafer stated. Senior Mikki Miller scored her first hat trick (three goals in the same game) of the season, and in so doing, became the team's leading scorer for the season despite missing miss-ing several games to injuries.
