Show Obituaries Vernal Express Wednesday, October 18, 1995 5 n 4 'III ( 1 fd Y?,r fit William Holfeltz Sr. Holfeltz passes away at home William Eugene Holfeltz Sr., 86, had his final wish come true when he passed away at his home on Oct. 14, 1995. He was born Jan. 14, 1909 to James T. Holfeltz and Emma Mae Henry at Park City. He moved to the Uintah Basin with his family as a young child and spent most of his life in Vernal. He served two missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Latter-day Saints and was a custodian for 43 years at the Glines Ward Chapel, the two Seminaries and the old Tabernacle. In his early years, he herded sheep for the Johnson family; fami-ly; in his later years, he was a farmer. He married Betty Jane Yokum in 1947, who was later killed in an automobile accident. He is survived by his children: William and Rowena Holfeltz of Fort Collins, Colo.; Roger and Lisa Holfeltz of Vernal; Jerry and Deanna Holfeltz of Vernal; and his grandchildren: Vanessa, William, Seth, Jared, Kathryn, Adam, Jerry Jr., Jonathan, Nathaniel, William Jay, MaryBeth and Samuel. He was preceded in death by several sev-eral brothers and sisters. He is also survived by one brother, broth-er, Glen; several half brothers and sisters; and numerous step brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Oct. 19, 1995, 11 a.m., at Glines Ward Chapel, 1270 West 1500 South. Friends may call Thomson's Vernal Mortuary on Wednesday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the chapel. Burial will be in the Vernal Memorial Park under the direction of Thomson's Vernal Mortuary. To our many friends and relatives. The family of James Dale Griffls Mabel Richardson Richardson dies at home in Vernal Mabel Weist Merrell Richardson, age 90, born Oct. 19, 1904, in Vernal. Her parents were Charles Oswald and Martha Nora Corless Weist. She died Oct. 17, 1995, at her home in Vernal. She married Franklin Angus Merrell on April 20, 1922 in Vernal, it was solemnized solem-nized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on May 3, 1923. Angus died February 15, 1948. She married William Merrell Richardson on June 19, 1952, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died March 29, 1989. Mabel was a homemaker, cook for the schools for many years, member of the Naples 1st Ward. She was a visiting teacher for 70 years. She held many church jobs: primary teacher, Sunday school teacher, served in the relief society presidency. presiden-cy. She enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, garden-ing, and flowers. Mabel was an excellent ex-cellent cook. She served a stake mission. Mabel is survived by two. sons and one daughter: Lorin F. Merrell of Vernal, Orvil C. Merrell of Pinedale, Wyo., Mrs. Orval D. (Carma) Stevens of Vernal; 17 grandchildren, 62 great-grandchildren; nine great-great grandchildren; grandchil-dren; two. sisters: Mrs. Delyle (Nelda) Jones of Bountiful, Mrs. Reid (Mildred) Hodgkinson of Ogden; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husbands Angus and William; her son, Ivan A. Merrell; daughter-in-law, Marva Nickell Merrell; and grandson, Gordon N. Merrell; her parents and three sisters : Marie Soderquist, Lottie Jorgensen and Goldie Shiner. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 21, 1995, 11 a.m., at Naples 1st Ward Chapel. She was born Dec. 20, 1922 in St. George, a daughter of Leslie Adams and Nettie Knell Morris. She married. Thomas H. Sevy on July 10, 1941 in Las Vegas, Nev. Donna worked as a dispatcher, a cook for Uintah County, and a librarian. li-brarian. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Vernal 1st Ward. She served as a relief society visiting visit-ing teacher, a relief society teacher and a primary teacher. She was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers, Camp Tokawana. Donna was known for her sense of humor, her civic pride, her generosity gen-erosity and service to her fellow-man. fellow-man. She loved God's handiwork and going to the mountain. Elk hunting and fishing with the Kay family was one of her greatest loves later in life. She also enjoyed watching the sandhill cranes as the migrated through the Vernal area in the spring and fall. She collected porcelain mice and spent many years serving as a pink lady at the Ashley Valley Medical Center. Donna and her husband, Tom, lived in Randolph and Preston, Idaho before moving to Vernal, while her husband worked for the U.S. Forest Service. She is survived by her children: Leslie and husband, Clyn, Bishop, American Fork; Butch and wife,. Merridy, Sevy, Vernal; Kathy and husband, Alan, Cooper, Randlett; and Mary, and husband, Kim, Gardner, St. Charles, Mo.; 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; sister, Alma Kunz, and brother, Richard Morris, both of Cedar City. She was preceded in death by her husband and a son, Richard Sevy. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Oct. 17, 1995 in the Vernal 1st Ward Chapel. Envelopes may be obtained ob-tained at Thomson's Vernal Mortuary. James Nelson dies at home James Victor Nelson, 91, of Orem died Oct. 13, 1995 at his home from a sudden illness. He was born Jan. 17, 1904, a son of James Alexander and Susie Ivalee Giles Nelson in Jensen. He married Mary Venola Slaugh Aug. 17, 1931 in Craig, Colo. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She died Sept. 8, 1952. He married Gwen Merrill Dec. 23, 1955, she died March 17, 1965. He married Edith Walton March 10, 1966, she died Feb. 10, 1994. James loved his family. He was a master gardener and' raised beautiful beauti-ful fruits, vegetables and flowers. He was very hard working and was a perfectionist. Survivors include his children: Ray W. (Kleah) Nelson, Orem; Max J. (Marilyn) Nelson, Pleasant Grove; Barbara (Boyd) Walker, Lindon; Ronald Kent (Ellen) Nelson, Poway, Calif.; step-children: LaMar Walton, Murray; Darwin (Roma) Walton, West Valley City; Vaughn (Mildred) Walton, Eugene, Ore.; Joyce (Norman) Eastwood, St. George. Numerous grandchildren and greatgrandchildren, great-grandchildren, two sisters: Mamie Wellman, Riverton, and Marell Oaks, Vernal. He was preceded in death by two sons: Lynn Noah and James Allen Nelson, and six brothers broth-ers and sisters. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Oct. 17, 1995 at the Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary in Orem. ' Burial and graveside services were in the Maeser Fairview Cemetery. I' h V Bobby Willis Jr. Accident takes child's life Bobby (Sonny) Leon Willis Jr., age 2, of Vernal, died Oct. 13, 1995 as the result of an autopedestrian accident. He was born May 16, 1993 in Farmington, N.M., the son of Bobby Leon Sr. and Shirley Marie Thompson Willis. Sonny was full of energy, he loved to help his dad with anything he was fixing. He loved to ride with dad in his big black truck. Sonny loved all animals. He loved to be with his grandpa, Clyde, and ride on his big red tractor. He lived every waking moment to the fullest. He kept his mom busy every minute of the day till he dropped off to sleep at night. His nickname "Sonny" was perfect, per-fect, he brought sunshine and love to everyone who knew him. Sonny is survived by his parents, Bobby and Shirley Willis Sr., Vernal; sisters: Tara Weldon, Kelly Willis, Bailee Willis, all of Vernal, and Megan Willis, Farris, Okla; grandparents: Hayden Willis, Caney, Okla., Clyde and Velma Thompson, Vernal; great-grandparents: Lloyd and Mildred Vickery, Vernal, and Laura Thompson, Vernal. He was born Dec. 2, 1966 in Andrews, Texas, a son of Coy Ray and Charlotte Ann Love Hatch. Michael worked as an auto detail-er. detail-er. He was a member of the LDS Church, Davis 1st Ward. Michael enjoyed fishing, camping, camp-ing, hunting and working on cars. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his three nephews, also being with his friends.
