Competition is wild in County Fair's Little Buckaroo Rodeo When the dust settled at the Western Park arena Thursday night, 90-plus of the toughest cowboys and cowgirls in the county stood ready to compete in the eight grueling gruel-ing events that make up the Little Buckaroo Rodeo. All hats and hands were across their hearts as Amy Richens sang the National Anthem, and then Ned Nash added to the thrill of the evening by announcing each event. Sheep busting: In the first division there were six entries, with Jessica Coy, the winner. win-ner. The second division had eight entries, en-tries, the winner, Chelsea Hatch, . There were six entries in the third division, with Kara Allred, the winner. win-ner. The winner out of six entries in the fourth division, was Taylor Jeski. Bareback riding, ages 7-9: 1st place went to Eli Todich with a score of 90 points; 2nd place was Garrett Allen with a score of 87; and 3rd place went to Zack Reynolds with a score of 86. Calf roping, ages 7-9: 1st place was captured by Rhen Richard with 1.58 seconds; and 2nd went to Zack Reynolds with his time being 10.9 seconds. llli V 1 -x ill WW' 1 Eli Todich displays his Ail-Around Cowboy trophy along with his individual in-dividual trophies won at the Little Buckaroo Rodeo, Thursday night. Calf roping, ages 10-12: 1st place was Kyle Chrisman with a time of 1.25 seconds.; 2nd place went to Coby Siddoway with a time of 1.69 seconds; and 3rd place was Jesse Wilcox with a time of 15.16 seconds. sec-onds. The All-Around Cowboy title was won by Eli Todich, son of Dave and Julie Todich of Vernal. 'Thank You' I would like to thank everyone who attended the open house held in my honor on my 80th birthday. I have never experienced more outpouring of love and friendship than I did at that time. I thank everyone who showed me that they cared and loved me by attending this milestone in my life, and for all the cards and gifts I received, I shall cherish them forever. I especially thank Cindy Sprosty, Sherry Gardner and Shelly Van Brough and other members of the Relief Society for their help in making this party a special time in my life. I also thank my son and my two daughters for their support and help and love in sharing part of these 80 beautiful years with me. The Homemade Pie and Ice Cream contestants know this is no "cream-puff competition. The pies are judged in two divisions, youth and adult, with two categories being fruit and cream pies. Each pie is home baked by the contestant and brought to the fair, ready to be judged. The pies are judged on overall appearance, top crust, inside crust, inside filling, and gating quality. qual-ity. Each of these qualities are worth a possible five points each, for 25 points possible per judge. The ice cream is also made at home and brought to the fair in the same container it was made. The ice cream is judged in two divisions, youth and adult, with two categories being cooked and uncooked. The entries are judged on overall appearance, appear-ance, texture, creaminess, flavor, and set. Each of these qualities are worth a possible five points each, for 25 points possible per judge. The winners of the adult divisions are: Fruit Pies 1st place - Alina Allred, Blackberry Pie; 2nd place -Mickie Allred, Strawberry Pie. Cream Pies 1st place - Debbie Yarbrough, French Silk; 2nd place -Dorraine Robbins, Mint Chocolate Chip Fudge Ice Cream Pie; 3rd place - Mickie Allred, Lemon Meringue. Adult Cooked Ice Cream 1st place - Julie Hamaker, Blackberry-Raspberry. Adult Uncooked Un-cooked Ice Cream 1st place -Dorraine Robbins, Dieters' Delite Raspberry (no fat); 2nd place -Betty Guffy, Strawberry. Winners in the youth division are: Fruit Pies 1st place - Sherrie Allred, Raspberry Pie; 2nd place - Emily Hamaker, Apple Pie; 3rd place -Joshua Allred, Apple Pie. Cream Pies 1st place - Casey Allred, Banana-Coconut; 2nd place - Emily Hamaker, Raspberry Cheesecake; 2nd place tie - Beth Hamaker, Berry Pie; 3rd place - Sherrie Allred, Blueberry Cream Cheese. Uncooked Un-cooked Ice Cream 1st place - David Gardner, Strawberry-Almond; 2nd place - Jacob and Ben Warren, Fresh Banana; 2nd place tie - Nikki Robins, Orange-Pineapple; 3rd place - Kara Warby, Vanilla. Fresh Blackberry Pie by Alina Allred First Place Adult Fruit Pie 1 c. sugar 23 cup flour 1 tsp. cinnamon 4 c. fresh blackberries 2 tbsp. lemon juice 2 tbsp. butter Mix first four ingredients, pour into pie shell.
