Families invited to host performing group Families are needed to host the 170 cast members of the Up with People, a performing group ages 17-25 who represent 25 different countries. This year's show, "The Festival" will be Thursday, Aug. 31, at 7:30 p.m. at Uintah High School. The students will arrive Tuesday, Aug. 29 and stay until the morning of Friday, Sept. 1. Host families provide pro-vide a place to sleep, a few meals and minimal transportation. In return, each host family will receive re-ceive two complimentary tickets to "The Festival" show, and have a chance to meet someone from another an-other corner of the globe. Lead team for the group, Alana Gait of Canada and Sonja Koch of the Netherlands said this year's show brings people together. "The show has a scene where two gangs resolve a conflict," said Ms. Ca'.t. The show also promotes community commu-nity service and brings about community com-munity action. Vernal will be the first town on the cast's tour schedule. From here they will travel through over 12 states before going on to Sweden, Norway, Finland and Canada. Up with People is a unique educational educa-tional program which for 30 years has given young adults the opportunity opportu-nity for extensive world travel, performing per-forming arts, career development and community involvement. The aim of the group is to promote understanding un-derstanding among people of all nationalities na-tionalities and to develop young leaders with the desire to make a difference in the world. Tickets are $8 for adults in advance ad-vance and $9 at the door.
