Show Vernal Expre Wednesday, August 5, 1992 19 Upcoming events and happenings Dog show AYSO soccer The Uintah Recreation Association is sponsoring a pet show on Wednesday, Aug. 12 at the Colton Pavilion beginning at 6:30 p.m.. Any interested participants are asked to come to the pavilion between be-tween 6-6:30 p.m. the night of the show to register. Categories which will be judged include but arc not limited to: biggest, smallest, cutest, ugliest, funniest, most talented, curliest, fluffiest, homeliest, most imaginative imagina-tive and best of the show. All contestants con-testants will receive a ribbon. Depending on the number of participants, par-ticipants, age divisions could be established es-tablished with first and second being be-ing awarded in each division. The cost will be .50 per participant. All contestants are asked to please keep their pets on leashes! The 1992 American Youth Soccer Organization season began last week (July 27-31) here in the Vernal area. Teams from ages 5 through high school level will be participating. participat-ing. All games will be played on the Vernal Middle School, Naples, Ashley and Discovery Elementary School fields. Anyone who has registered reg-istered for the AYSO soccer and still has not been contacted is asked to contact Paul Buhler at 789-3406. The recent AYSO fund raising raffle raf-fle was a great success with Julie Hamaker, Sharon Freeman, Casey Cray, Pam Sutton, Sharon Fladcland, Corwin Snow and Molly Nielsen winning the drawings for assorted gifts donated by local merchants. mer-chants. Alumni soccer game Head Uintah High School soccer coach Ed Browning will be staging an alumni soccer game Friday, Aug. 14 at the high school football stadium stadi-um beginning at 7 p.m. All former players are cordially invited to participate as well as any interested players from around the Basin. Volleyball The UBRA in conjunction with Vernal City will be sponsoring a four man co-ed, and two man sand volleyball tournament August 21-22. 21-22.
