It should be a cooperative effort like the Community Council. "The attitude portrayed at board meetings goes down through the ranks. There needs to be moral sup-' port of teachers on down." Hyrum Toone, district 2, said education edu-cation is learning how to have fun. Recreational education is learning to have fun, he said in support of opening the swimming pool. People need to manage government, not government manage the people. Open meetings are part of that process. pro-cess. Tony Wright, district 3, said the school district is getting blamed for the swimming pool's problems while the city and county are ducking duck-ing the issue. He said executive sessions should be limited to 10 to 15 minutes. Lyle Taylor, district 3, said it is prudent to have executive sessions for personnel, litigation and negotiations. negoti-ations. "The board has improved in the last few months." He said he would like to see one manager of the pool, possibily a to start?) on the later afternoon of Tuesday, Aug. 21. Candidates... Continued from 1 Dennis Judd, district 1 candidate, said there needs to be new blood on the school board. Judd said he supports sup-ports the formation of a recreation district to operate the swimming pool. The school district should not operate it unless there is not other way. Judd said there is a bit of problem with excessive executive sessions at school board meetings. "Patrons need to feel like they are a part of the district" Candidate David Ahrnsbrak, district dis-trict 2, said that education should be an asset to the community. The swimming pool should be modeled after the one in Heber, he said. Education should not only be for young people, but for everyone. He said executive sessions should be toward the end of board meetings. Randy Vincent, district 1, said education ed-ucation is his top priority. "I am not against sports, but education is most important. The pool should be operated oper-ated like a business. "The public needs to be able to give input at board meetings." would walk out of all illegal secret meetings if elected. "It does not serve the public to conduct business busi-ness in secret." He said he supported the school district taking over the management of the swimming pool, because if the district could justify expending the money for a football field for just one sport, the pool could be justified jus-tified since is supports many sports. There will be primary election in districts 1 and 2 Sept. 11 which will cut the number of school board candidates can-didates to two. Since only two candidates can-didates are running in district 3, no primary is needed. If a voter has moved or not voted in the past four years, they need to register in the proper precinct. The county clerk's office has a list of the present precincts.
