The Uintah County Fair Antique Car Show awards winners Commissioner Glen McKee awarded Marcell Gray the Commissioner's Choice award for Gray's 1928 Model A Ford; Mayor Leonard Heeney presented the Mayor's Choice award to Denver Long for his 1926 FDW dump truck one of the first in Yellowstone . National Park; The People's Choice Sherrill Lamb to be new principal at West Jr. Helping students take control of their lives to be happy, sclf-confi-dant people is what Sherrill Lamb, West Junior High's new principal, said he his focus will be this fall. "Students need to feci good about themselves and feel good about coming here to learn and get help," He said. "I'd like to be able to help them accomplish their goals." Lamb is currently working with the student stu-dent council at West Junior High to look at changes of new programs to help make school a more positive experience. Max Martin was the chairman over the Antique car Show and said there were approximately 30 entries and 250 spectators came. The car show was a first for the County Fair. As for any immediate policy' changes, he said there won't be any drastic changes until the need arises. "Attendance has been pretty good in the past; I think we can work to maintain and maybe improve that." Lamb said he has been an administrator admin-istrator for 16 years, but still enjoys being in the classroom and working with kids. He grew up in Ordcrvillc, a small town in southern Utah, graduated from Valley High School and continued his education. Last year, he served as vice principal at Uintah lli'h School. Now he said he is Kxiking forward to spending many years with the students and faculty at Wci Junior I ligh. " " f i t ! -1 1 1 r -s i (i The second annual Uintah County Fair 4-H and Open Horse Show drew 92 participants competing in Halter, Judged Performance and Timed Performance classes, making a much bigger show than last year Jacque Hobbs was chairman of the show; Vickie Anderson and Jill Ylincheta were co-chairmen, Ken Lesh and Tex Gines were announcers, announc-ers, Stuart Parkinson was the score-keeper score-keeper and Lyn Benton and Steve Hatch were the judges. The show started at 9 a.m. with halter classes. The first place winner in the colt and filly class was a no-name no-name foal owned by Lissa Fillingim. In the Stallion division, first place winners were: yearlings year-lings Impressive Steam owned by Gary Claybourn; two-year-old stal lions Rumor owned by Brett Sabey; four year and older stallions stal-lions Mister Sonny Can owned by Lance Slaugh; the grand champion champi-on stallion went to Mister Sonny Can owned by Lance Slaugh, with the reserve grand champion stallion going to Robins' Partee Time owned by Mike and Cyndi Horton. First place winners in the Mare division di-vision were: yearling mares Sweet Skipa Star owned by Chuck Massey; . two-year-old mares Taffy owned by Wendi Long; three-year-old mares Shasta owned by Melody Sanna; four year and older mares Subscriptionette owned by Chris Ylincheta; grand champion mare of the show was Shasta owned by Melody Sanna, with reserve champion mare going to Subscriptionette owned by Chris Ylincheta. First place winners in the Gelding division were: two year and younger geldings Cinna Stock owned by Brent Bastian; four year and older geldings Taylors Old Yellcr owned by Donne Woods; grand champion gelding was Taylors Old Yeller owned by Donne Woods, with Jackets Dandy owned by Forrest Hancock winning reserve. The first place winners in Showmanship at Halter were: 14-19 age division Heather Hobbs; 12-13 12-13 age division Missy Dimick; 9-11 9-11 age division Jxlyn Gines; 8 and under age division Alisa Sue Vincent. First place in English Pleasure were Kathy Lesh in adults and Missy Sue Dimick in the age 19 and under division. Adult Western Pleasure winner was Morris Anderson; first place in Western , Horsemanship 14-19 Chris Ylincheta; 12-13 Missy Dimick; 9-11 Jaclyn Gines; 8 and under Mclanie Gines. Winners in Reigning were: adults Morris Anderson; 14-19 Chris Ylincheta; 12-13 Kcrri White; 9-11 Joe Ylincheta; 8 and under Valeric Gines. The first place winner in the Open Costume class was Heidi Lesh. She was dressed as Little Bo Peep and Blanchett Paxk in on Dry Fork Creek in the AiMcy Creek drainage. Timed Events division high point winners were: adults Brett Sabey; 14-19 Milton Buker; 12-13 Breed Searle; 9-11 Jaclyn Gines; 8 and under Valerie Gines. Reserve high point winners were: adults Wanda Murray; 14-19 Jessica Jacobsen; 12-13 Jennifer Gilroy; 9-11 Aubry Young; 8 and under Melanie Gines. All grand champions at Halter and High Point winners in the Judged and Timed events received a director's direc-tor's chair lettered according to the division they won. All reserve champions at Halter and reserve High Point in the Timed events received re-ceived a commemorative Liberty silver dollar and a certificate stating the division they placed in. Because this was also a 4-H show, 4-H members were recognized with a plaque for winning High Point all-around all-around or reserve High Point all-around all-around rider. 14-19 4-H age division winners were: Chris Ylincheta High Point; Heidi Lesh reserve High Point; 12-13 4-H winners were: High Point Missy Dimick; reserve High Point Raymond Terry; 9-11 4-H winners were: Jaclyn Gines High Point; Aubry Young reserve High Point; 8 and under 4-H winners were: High Point Valeric Gines; reserve High Point Mclanie Gines.
