Barrett, Reclamation's Upper Colorado Col-orado River Director in Salt Lake City. The Draft Environmental Impact Statement for the unit was filed with the Environmental Protection Agency and made available to the public on April 25, 1986. Under the recommended plan for the Uintah Basin Unit, 55.5 miles of canals and laterals in Duchesne and Uintah counties would be concrete lined lin-ed to reduce salt loading from the Uintah Uin-tah Basin by 21,000 to 30,000 tons per year. The Uintah Basin presently contributes con-tributes about 450,000 tons of salt annually an-nually to the Colorado River. The project pro-ject would also improve Irrigation efficiency ef-ficiency by Increasing the water supply supp-ly to presently Irrigated lands about 4,600 acre -feet annually, The 53.5 miles of concrete lining in-eludes in-eludes 419 miles of canals and 116 miles of lalrralH. Involving nine canals In an area extending roughtly from the communitle of Duchesne and I'palco on the west to Hamllett on the east. The canal and laterals receive their watrr wpply from the Dm hrsne River nd one of its tributaries, the Like Fork River.
