Pavson placed third at 31 1-2. The Ute girls captured first place by 23 1-2 points. The Uintah Uin-tah females scored 87 1-2 points and Spanish Fork nabbed second at M. Payson garnered 8 1-2 counters. Mulville won the 100 meter dash in-a in-a time of 11.08 and snared top honors in the long jump at 19 feet 8 inches. The first inning was a mess for the Utes, which contained runs, hits, errors, wild pitches and a hit batter. Pleasant Plea-sant Grove has a first place Region 8 mark of 5-1 and the Utes are 1-5 and 5-7 overall. The game was bad news right off the bat for the Uintah Utes as Young of Pleasant Grove led off with a home run in the bottom of the first inning for a 1-0 advantage. An error put Jensen on the base paths and Bezzart produced a single. Hansgen grounded out and Harris became a base runner on an error. Bahr was hit by the pitcher and Roberts singled. Jensen, Bezzart and Roberts scored to give Pleasant Tennis teams battle in bouts Uintah High School's number three singles player, Valton Mortenson beat his opponent, 6-3, 6-2, but he was the lone Ute winner as Timpview won the other four matches for a 4-1 victory vic-tory in Vernal, Tuesday afternoon. Ron Sperry, Timpview, knocked off Brad Hardinger, Uintah, 6-0, 6-0, in the number one singles and Jimmy Higgs, Timpview, won the number two singles when he toppled Uintah's Brian Wallis, 6-0, 6-1. Uintah's doubles teams, David Murphy, Bobby Fritz, number one and Robert Drollinger, Jason Law, number two, suffered 0-6 losses in two sets. The Uintah Ute tennis team will take part in the Region 8 Tournament, Tourna-ment, Friday and Saturday. The 3-A state meet is set for May 16-17. The Uintah Utes have won three meets during the season so far. Uin tah has defeated Spanish Fork, twice and defeated Carbon High School. The Utes have also had a number of close losses in region meets. Grove a 4-0 lead. Two wild pitches oc-cured oc-cured in the inning. Larry Murray singled for the Ute in the first inning, but that was highlight in the first two innings for the Uintah as six Utes were whiffed. The Utes ended their scoring slump when Brian Murray led off in the top of the third inning with a home run, which cut the Pleasant Grove lead to three runs, 4-1. L. Murray singled, but was forced out at second base. Strike outs were the number one show in the fourth inning. Three Utes struck out in the top of the fourth, but a passed ball on a third strike put Kenny Mohar at first base. However, he failed to score. Hooley singled for Pleasant Grove in the bottom of the fourth, but Mills and Young struck out. Jensen flied out to the first baseman. Both teams were blanked in the fifth inning, but each crew added one run each in the sixth. Mohar and Greg Jaramillo singled. Quinn Downard and Larry Wiseman grounded out. Mohar scored to cut Pleasant Grove's lead to two runs at 4-2. The Vikings regained their three run lead at 5-2 with one counter in the bottom of the sixth inning. Carter singled and scored Pleasant Grove's fifth run. Uintah had two base runners in the top of the seventh. Blake Horrocks and L. Murray gained walks, but two strike outs and a fly ball out foiled the Utes and the final score was 5 to 2 in favor of Pleasant Grove.
