Games were also played Thursday in Vernal. The championship game is set for . Saturday at 8:30 p.m. and a second contest will be played if necessary. Ball games will also be played Saturday Satur-day at 6 p.m. and 7: 15 p.m. Three games will take place Friday Fri-day in Vernal. The times for the contests con-tests are 6 p.m., 7:30 p.m; and 8:45 p.m. Sixteen teams are taking part in the tournament. A number of Vernal teams are taking tak-ing part in UBIC celebration softball tournaments in Roosevelt this week. The Rookies of Vernal advanced into the final three of the men's B League Tournament with a 13-10 extra inning win over Farmer's Insurance of Roosevelt, Wednesday. The Rookies jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the first two innings, but Farmer's Insurance scored three to come within three runs at 6-3. The Rookies added one run for a 7-3 lead, but Farmer's scored five runs on timely hits and errors to take an 8-7 lead. Twice, the Rookies' third baseman was unable to come up with ball for a force at third base. Finally the Rookies got out of the fifth inning. One run was scored in the top of the sixth by the Rookies to tie up the game at 8-8. Marty McCarrel singled in a runner with two outs in the top of the seventh inning to take a 9-8 lead. A single drove in another run and gave the Rookies a 10-8 advantage. Farmer's Insurance committed two outs, but the next batter reached the base paths. The Rookies failed to get a force out at second, which placed plac-ed two runners on base. The next batter bat-ter was walked on purpose to load up the bases, but the next slugger ripped out a single and drove in two runs for a 10-10 tie. The Rookies retired the final batter in the bottom of the seventh. The first batter up for the Rookies led off with a triple and he scored on an error at first base for an 11-10 lead. The next batter hit a shot over the centerfielder's head and a single scored a second run. The Rookies added ad-ded one more run for a 13-10 lead. .
