City crews have begun removing the old road base, curb and gutter on 100 North from Vernal Avenue to 500 East. Due to the extensive work being done, the area has been closed to traffic. The only through traffic allowed in the area are residents who live there and businesses. Crews have repoured and replaced some of the curb and gutter just off Vernal Avenue. Kay Overson, public works director, said the project should be completed by the end of August and crews had hoped to resurface resur-face the road by Sept. 1. Originally the crews had planned to have the project completed earlier, but recent rains have caused a delay.
