SOT. 75 Cast Summer program set for youths The citycounty recreation department depart-ment has scheduled a number of activities ac-tivities for area youths throughout the summer. A nine week summer sun fun program pro-gram will begin June 3 and continue through Aug. 2. Programs will be Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9 a.m., to 12 noon. Youths between the ages of 5-12 are welcome to participate in the program. pro-gram. There is a $25 charge for the entire program or participants may pay on a weekly basis. The program is $5 per week. A children's theater workshop has been set up for the summer. The course will include instruction in music, drama and theater. The first program has been set for June 10-21. Classes will meet from 9 a.m., to 12 noon, Mondays and Wednesdays or Tuesdays and Thursdays. There will be a performance perfor-mance Friday evenings. The second session has been set for July 8-19. There Is a $10 charge for the classes which will be held at Central School. Summer programs for the Uintah County Library will be incorporated In with the summer sun fun program. Swimming lessons have also tx-en scheduled for the summer. Utah crop and weather status report Utah farmers have virtually completed com-pleted small grain seeding by week's end and have planted 82 percent of the corn acreage and 78 percent of the potato acreage, according to the Utah Crop and Livestock Reporting Service. Spraying for weeds and insects, mending fences, and irrigating were also major activities. Grasshopper populations are increasing in the west and central areas of the state, and termed a 'biological fire' in some northwestern nor-thwestern counties. Soil moisture is rated mostly adequate ade-quate but north central and northeastern nor-theastern counties needed additional moisture. Small grain crops are doing well, with winter wheat stands averaging 11 inches high. Some wheat Is heading in central Utah, while most grains have headed In Utah's Dixie. First cutting of alfalfa is complete in Dixie, but Just beginning throughout the rest of the state. Fruit set varies considerably, with good crops expected for apples, pears, and tart cherries. Other fruits are showing falr-to-average set for most of the state. Range feed appears to be good, and livestock are in good shape going into the summer.
