Bank of Vernal was built with bricks mailed to Vernal by parcel post from SLC via D&RG RR to Mack, Colo, then over Baxter Pass on Uinta RR to Watson, then to Vernal by horse-drawn freight wagons. Diamond Mountain, about 25 miles northeast of Vernal, is the site of the famous diamond hoax in the late 1800's and was named for that reason.
