Show "CSS Jtf-SrH ..a LASSITER, (R-Warner Bros.) Starring Tom Selleck. Jane Seymour, Lauren Hutton. By J.T. YURKO Unlike his heroic TV role on "Magnum, P.l," Tom Selleck's character in "Lassiter" operates oper-ates on the other side of the law. He is an expatriate American Ameri-can cat burglar with a penchant pen-chant for diamonds, living in London prior to World War II. Lassiter is coerced by American Amer-ican and British officials to help them steal diamonds worth $10 million from the German Embassy in London that would be used to fund German terrorists. terror-ists. The officials offer Lassiter an ultimatum: "sneak into the Germans' safe, or we'll shuffle you off to prison." As the thief-hero with a heart of gold, Selleck has to deal with a vindictive police chief, a timid spy for the FBI, and perhaps most formidable of all, Lauren Hutton, as a kinky German countess. When she meets Lassiter she says, "I like a man with scars, I hope I can give you more of them." Camels were brought into Texas in 1856 to transport supplies to army posts in desert areas of the Southwest As with most caper films the suspense is drawn as much from how the heist will be pulled off as from whether the heist will be successful. Selleck is suave enough to have the audience in his corner, and the script is clever enough to keep us guessing how he will outwit the Germans, the British police, and everyone else to get away with the goods. First-time director Roger Young keeps the pacing slow initially, but that only allows for the second half to move with twice as much speed toward .the surprise conclusion. Jane Seymour is along for the ride as Selleck's full-time girlfriend. While the women may keep their eyes firmly planted on Selleck in his dapper 1939 wardrobe, Miss Seymour is more than enough to keep the males in the audience occupied. occu-pied. 01984 Compulog Vernal crew to compete at Craig Meet Vernal Junior high's 7th and 8th graders will take part in a tournament at Craig, Saturday. " Based on George Bernard Shaw's play, "Pygmalion," the musical tells about an austere British phonetics teacher who takes a London guttersnipe under his wing and disciplines her to be a lady. "My Fair Lady" starred Rex Harrison, who recreated recreat-ed his Broadway role of Henry Higgins and Audrey Hepburn as Fliza Doolittle. However, this was not the first time that the "Pygmalion" tale was brought to the screen. The play was filmed in 1938, sans music, but the lively interplay between Henry and Fliza was charming enough to make this film a classic, too. Question: Can you name the two stars of "Pygmalion"?
