Show A-6 The Park Record Wed/Thurs/Fri, January 27-29, 2016 POLICE BLOTTER Bomb threat turns out to be a hoax, the police say The Park City Police Department in the early morning hours of Monday responded to a bomb threat at a hotel in upper Deer Valley. Police Chief Wade Carpenter said the threat was made at approximately 2 a.m. Carpenter said the Police Department and a bomb squad responded to the hotel and did not find a bomb or a suspicious package. The hotel was not evacuated, he said. Carpenter said dispatchers determined the location of the person who called in the threat. He said investigators found the suspect to be a woman from Midvale with a history of calling in bomb threats elsewhere. The Police Department, meanwhile, was busy last weekend as Sundance Film Festival crowds descended on Park City for the busy opening weekend of the event. There were numerous parties, alcohol problems and other sorts of reports typical of park City's busiest times. Incidents reported to the Police Department last week included: On Sunday, Jan. 24 at 11:55 p.m., a hit-and-run traffic accident was reported on Guardsman Connection. Public police logs did not provide details. A suspected intoxication case was reported at 6:58 p.m. on Heber Avenue. A hit-and-run traffic accident was reported somewhere along Kearns Boulevard at 6:07 p.m. A purse was reportedly stolen on Main Street. The police received the complaint at 5:13 p.m., but the purse disappeared sometime in the few hours before the case was filed. The Police Department said the circumstances were suspicious. At 3:23 p.m., the police received a report that a deck on Main Street was hit by an unknown object, breaking the wood. The police at 2:15 p.m. received a complaint that guests staying at a rental property somewhere along Norfolk Avenue are suspected of breaking into a wine cellar. Public police logs did not provide details. The Police Department indicated the case was civil rather than criminal in nature. At 2:15 a.m., a suspected intoxication case was logged on Park Avenue. At 1:31 a.m., the police were told someone kicked in a rear door of a Main Street building and became belligerent. The Police Department classified the case as criminal mischief. A violation of Park City's rule against idling was reported on Prospector Avenue at 12:49 a.m. On Saturday, Jan. 23 at 11:27 p.m., a vehicle reportedly slid of the road at the intersection of Deer Valley Drive and Aerie Drive. The Police Department logged four reports - two unspecified alcohol complaints, one involving disturbing the peace and a disorderly conduct claim - in less than an hour starting at 10:24 p.m. The reports were made on Main Street or Sidewinder Drive. At 9:21 p.m., a two-car accident was reported at or close to the intersection of Kearns Boulevard and Snow Creek Drive. Nobody was injured, the police said. A suspected intoxication case was reported somewhere along Kearns Boulevard at 8:46 p.m. A snowplow reportedly backed into a vehicle on S.R. 224 at 4:33 p.m. At 3:32 p.m., a taxi was reportedly seen lacking a Park City permit in the vicinity of Kearns Boulevard or Park Avenue. The Police Department indicated the complaint was one for City Hall's code enforcers. Someone reported losing a wallet on Main Street at 1:45 p.m. A wallet was reportedly stolen from a car that was parked in a driveway on Holiday Ranch Loop Road. The case was reported at 9:10 a.m., but it was not clear from public police logs when the wallet disappeared. The Police Department classified the case as a suspected vehicle burglary. On Friday, Jan. 22 at 9:30 p.m., health officials requested a police escort for a plumbing service needed on the 400 block of Main Street. At 8:47 p.m., a drone was seen in the air in the vicinity of the intersection of Park Avenue and Heber Avenue. The Police Department indicated City Hall code enforcers would handle the case. A hit-and-run traffic accident was reported on S.R. 224 at 3:27 p.m. The accident apparently involved three vehicles. Earlier that day, at 1:26 p.m., an unrelated hitand-run case was logged on Sidewinder Drive. At 12:32 p.m., the police received a complaint that a 6-yearold girl continued to unbuckle the seatbelt while the parent was driving. The driver was on Park Avenue. A loud party was reported on Royal Street at 3:59 a.m. The party had been occurring for several hours, the police were told. On Thursday, Jan. 21 at 5:20 p.m., a bearded man wearing a blue hat, pink sunglasses and green pants was reported to be begging for change on the 500 block of Main Street. The man was becoming disorderly as people passed, the police were told. At 5:01 p.m., the police received a complaint that the registration sticker of a vehicle was cut off a license plate on Little Bessie Avenue. The Police Department classified the case as a suspected theft. At 4:43 p.m., the police received a complaint about taxis lacking the proper permits on Main Street. A truck reportedly hit a fire sprinkler on the roof of a parking garage on Swede Alley at 4:38 p.m. Someone at a store on the 2000 block of Park Avenue suspected a $100 bill was counterfeit. On Wednesday, Jan. 20 at 4:20 p.m., a wallet was reportedly lost on Lowell Avenue. A suspected fraud involving a credit card was reported somewhere along Woodside Avenue at 1:25 p.m. On Tuesday, Jan. 19 at 10:50 a.m., a hit-and-run traffic accident was reported on Sidewinder Drive. Earlier in the day, at 7:46 a.m., a hit-and-run accident was logged on Park Avenue. The victim's vehicle in the Park Avenue case was a Mercedes-Benz sport utility vehicle. On Monday, Jan. 18 at 10:50 a.m., a hit-and-run traffic accident was logged in a garage on Shadow Ridge Road.
