ARTSPARK, sponsored by Spiro Arts, will conduct high-quality, sequential art classes for children in grades three through five, meeting once a week from 3 to 5:30 p.m. Tuition l o r a six-week session is $120, all supplies included. Youtheatre gives kids a chance to shine By ALISHA SELF Of the Record staff Save the music The Park City School of Music is organizing an after-school instrumental music program for all fourth- and fifth-grade students in the Park City area. Due to recent district budget cuts, the public schools will not be able to continue to provide this opportunity. Professional instruction in orchestra, band, choir and piano ensembles will be offered twice a week at a rate of $200-300 per semester. Students will share their progress in concerts at the end of each semester. Several organizational meetings will be held over the next two weeks to receive input from parents. The plan is to begin instruction by the end of September Summerhays Music has generously offered an instrument rental discount for participants and will provide a convenient "Rental D a / ' here in Park City. Cotillion classes The 8th Annual Park City Cotillion begins Oct. 22 for grades four through nine. The Park City Cotillion and Survival Etiquette Essentials are progressive courses in social skills, dance, and etiquette education. Classes are being offered at the Temple Har Shalom in Park City: grades four and five will meet Thursdays from 5:45 to 7:15 p.m. ($180) and grades six through nine will meet Thursdays from 7:30 to 9 p.m. ($220). Although the main-stage production schedule is currently up in the air at the Egyptian Theatre, the show must go on. And the show will go on. On Sept. 14, the Egyptian Theatre Company (ETC) will kick off the fall semester of Youtheatre, its year-round theatre arts education program for ages 4 to 18. The fledging thespians will spend the next few months learning about all aspects of theatre, and in December, they'll showcase what they've learned at a special performance and - for the older students - a full-scale production of "Aladdin."
