Typical Ttiathlon Challenge Park City Recreation has created the Typical Triathlon Challenge, a weeklong triathlon that challenges fitness levels, skills and determination. In seven days, complete a 1.5 mlleswlm,a65 mile bike ride and a 13 mile run. The challenge takes place July 14 through the 20 . Thousands come together to participate in the annual MyoMed Ragnar Relay Wasatch Back race the only one with a fallen teammate in their hearts as they plodded along the Wasatch Back Trail. A collection of college runners from Brigham Young University (BYU) and Utah Valley University (UVU) came together to do a little running j ust for the fun of it. After competing at nationals the week before, the team was ready for a run that was less about competition and more about team bonding. After losing BYU teammate Chelsi Peterson just a few weeks ago, the team has become even more aware of the importance of friendships with their teammates, "You realize that life is so precious," said Angela Wagner, a steeplechaser at BYU and a native of South Africa. "[You learn to] enjoy it and dont be too concerned about winning. At the end it doesnt matter. You realize that there is more to life than running." Wagner said she had a great time running with her teammates and also taking in the beautiful backcountry of Utah. "It's a great way to see the state," she said. Wagner has been in Park City a was a member of the team three years ago and loved the friendship and camaraderie that came along with competing in the race. To honor her memory, the team made arrangements with the organizers of the relay to keep the money they raised for the event for the last two years and use it to purchase a water fountain in memory of Brimley. The water fountain was placed along the Bonneville Shoreline Trail in Salt Lake and dedicated to Brimley just last week. Team member Lisa Madsen said Brimley was on her mind during the race. "As I ran into one of the exchange stations she just popped into my head, because I remember her running into that station," said Madsen. The festivities began with a breakfast of bagels and breakfast burritos before taking their fat tires to the Glenwild and Flying Dog trails. IMBA Epic Rides are held around the world and are designated as "epic" because of the high quality of the trail and the surrounding area and the exceptional experience. The summit ended with a celebratory lunch at The Preserve at Park City.
