Show Ne w complex doors opening A pair of 2nd District Court judges, the court clerk's office and the sheriffs administrative personnel moved late this week into Davis County's sparkling new $20 million justice complex. All are expected to be open for business Monday at the 20-acre site on Farmington's west side. It's fitting that a burgeoning county like Davisthe fourth fastest growing in Utah has leaders with a forward look, able to anticipate the need for an up-to-date facility that meets modern demands. In fact, Davis County grew by more than 28 percent in the past decade, to 1 87,940, and is expected to experience expe-rience dramatic growth for the next two decades. An unfortunate fact of life is that a downside of rapid population growth is an increase in the need for a smoothly operating justice system and that includes modem jails and courtrooms. Construction is still underway on the 400-bed jail in the justice center. Prisoners could take up residence by June or July, when the whole complex will be fully operational. Public tours are expected on April 13, coinciding with National County Government Week. Davis County residents should take advantage of the offer to walk through the complex com-plex and see what their tax dollars have helped buy. |
