Show Science fair winners West Bountiful Elementary held a very successful science fair for the fourth, fifth and sixth grades recently. re-cently. Over 400 students and many parent volunteers participated in the fair, which was under the direction of science teacher Mrs. Roann Parkinson. Bountiful High School AP Biology students judged the contest. Six winners from each of the fourth, fifth and sixth grades will compete at the district science fan-March fan-March 6 at the Davis High School. Fourth graders competing are: Sara Anderson, Stefanie Blackner, Emily Page, Scott Larsen, Jason France and Shalisse Pekarcik. Runner-up winners for the fourth grade are: Tracie Danner and Barbara Edgar. Fifth grade winners are: Dustin Moffat, Jennifer Larrabee, Bryce Spere, Heather DeWaal, Heidi Leary and Elizabeth Devereaux. Runner-up winners are Nathan Weese and Loni Workman. Sixth grade winners are: Greg Callister, Robert Ingles. Brandon Haslam, Daniel Houtz, Mike Ingles and Simon Winegar. Runners-up are Chyrese Bangerter and Tyra Peterson. The . first, second and third graders held an invention convention conven-tion in which they had to identify a problem they found in their daily lives and then invent something to help solve that problem. Under the direction of Mrs. Kathy Scott, their teacher, the students shared their inventions with parents and friends both evenings. even-ings. Their inventions were unique to the lives of 6, 7, and 8-year-olds. Winners.were: First grade: First, Sean Tracy (toy-picker-upper), Jamie Rapp, (automatic bed maker); second, Kimmy Mills ( flour stick measurer), Marji Rosenlund (room cleaner); third, Trevor Peterson (light timer), Adam George (sheep counter). Second grade: First, Jason Birkner (skate board hanger), Val McQuiston (head holder); second, Kandice Fallows (school aide kit). Todd Bangerter (copper pipe sander); third, Scott Parkin (healthy choices game), Ryan Page (solar jet). Third grade: First, Brian Anderson Ander-son (crutch bag), Devin Olsen (cat feeder); second, Chantelle Fallows (dog stopper), Amber Turpin (glove dryer); third, Joshua VanderTooIen (recycling machine), Brett Petersen (toothpaste pusher). The science fair was for the fourth, four-th, fifth and sixth grades. |
