Show (SF begins campaign SALT LAKE CITY Utah is at the starting line for 1991, and the Utah Sports Foundation (USF) has implemented a "Make the Connection' Connec-tion' campaign as part of the race for sports events. The campaign is designed to build an awareness of what the Utah Sports Foundation is and what it has done for Utah in the past. The task for most Utahns is to figure out which sport organization does what in Utah. The "Utah Sports Foundation" was organized to attract and host national and international in-ternational sport events in Utah. The "Salt Lake Olympic Bid Committee has the sole purpose of wooing the International Olympic Committee in an effort to attract the 1998 or 2002 Winter Olympic Games to Utah. The Utah Sports Authority governs the state money appropriated ap-propriated for Olympic facility construction. con-struction. In addition, the authority oversees all state expenditures for sport events. The competition for national and international sport events is fierce, with many sport marketing organizations nationwide vying for the same events. In 1990, Salt Lake City was ranked No. 12 on the "Hottest Sports Cities," list according accor-ding to Sports Travel magazine. Many of the cities ranked higher than Salt Lake City can host only summer sport events. USF thinks that Salt Lake City and Utah should be ranked No. 1. "The Utah Sports Foundation has worked hard in the past to bring Olympic caliber events to Utah, and its future goals will enhance Utah's overall goal of becoming a sport center not only in the United States, but in the world," stated Frank Layden, USF board member.
