Show Joint venture ... for Flying J j and Conoco I BOUNTIFUL Conoco and J Flying J Inc. have announced a joint ' venture to establish a national chain of full-service travel plazatruckstops along the nation's interstate highway system. Under the agreement, Conoco I ' will acquire a 50 percent interest in the existing network of Flying J outlets and will participate in the construction of an indefinite number of additional plazas. Neither company would comment on expansion plans other than to say development would be aggressive, but in line with the economics of the business. Flying J will operate the ' truckstops on behalf of the venture. A typical travel plaza will consist of convenient gasoline and diesel fueling fuel-ing facilities, a restaurant, a convenience conve-nience store, showers, phones, and i other amenities designed to ac-i ac-i commodate travelers. The diesel islands will be brand- ed Flying J, and the gasoline fueling positions will be Conoco. Both brand names will be displayed on the roadside signage. Flying J's proprietary electronic ' Point-of-Sale system, Interstate Trucking Services system, and Frequent Fre-quent Fueler program will continue , to be available at the outlets.
