The Miss Cantaloupe Can-taloupe Day contest is being reorganized this year by the Bountiful Jaycees. Cantaloupe Queen contestants sought The Bountiful Jaycees are still looking for applicants for the Cantaloupe Can-taloupe Queen Competition to be held March 28. The Jaycees will recreate its Cantaloupe Can-taloupe Day celebration September in honor of Bountiful' s 100th birthday. birth-day. The celebration and festivities honor Davis County's once principal prin-cipal crop cantaloupes. The queen will receive a $1,000 scholarship and will oversee the September activities ac-tivities including a parade, carnival, crafts and entertainment booths. Young women between the ages of 17 and 20 years old are encouraged en-couraged to enter the competition which will include judging in four areasinterview, talent, swim suit and evening gown. There will be gifts for all participants par-ticipants including the scholarship for the queen, $500 for the first attendant and $300 for the second attendant. Individuals interested in competing com-peting may obtain information from Bountiful area high schools, local merchants or by calling Shauna Knighton of the Bountiful Jaycees at 295-6979 or 292-4622. The Jaycees are also looking for an antique anti-que car or Muscle car to be raffled off at the Cantaloupe Day event on Sept. 12. |
