Show PastPTA presidents honored Bv BETH SANO PTA President Bountiful Elementary Bountiful Elementary welcomes home 23 past PTA presidents at a special meeting to Celebrate PTAs--past, present and future last Thursday Thurs-day evening. The Parent Teacher Association is the nation's largest child-advocacy child-advocacy association and has been fighting for a better life for children and youth since its founding in February 1897. Since Bountiful Elementary first opened its doors to students in 1950, the PTA has worked to benefit the children of Bountiful. Past PTA presidents attending this meeting were: Louise Hanson Stringham, 1952-53; Lucille Muni, 1955-56; Helen Brown Romney, 1957-58; Beth Stringham, 1958-59; Donna Perkins, 1960-61; Helen Homer, 1965-66; Guy Ray, 1966-67; 1966-67; Carol Moore, 1967-68; Joyce Shaum, 1968-69; Joan Muir, 1970-71; 1970-71; Joy Martin, 1971-72; Ha Devereaux, 1972-73; Delene Stone, 1976-77; Vi Cliatwin, 1977-78; Linda Roylance, 1978-79; Elaine Larsen, 1982-83; JoAnn Osborn, 1983-84; Marty Anger, 1984-85; Wilma Adams, 1986-87; JoAnn Hanson, 1987-88; Sue Baylis, 1988-89; Laureen Anderson, 1989-90; 1989-90; and Patrice Kanell, 1990-91. Also attending w as past principal Kenneth McBride, 1977-78. To celebrate PTA's present, Beth Sano, current president, conducted the business of renewing the bylaws and electing the new officers for the 1992-93 year. They are: Pam Young, president; Carol Dyer, president-elect; Georgia Crouch, treasurer; Audrey Jones, secretary; Velda Morrow, principal V.P.; Mary Brady, teacher V.P. Children are the future, and guest speaker Stan Ferguson gave a parenting presentation using the video "Working on the Dream," which he wrote and directed for the National Association of Counties. |
