Continental captures awards By CHERIE HUBER , f ' !' " s . .". NORTH SALT LAKEA restored Lincoln Continental convertible con-vertible from North Salt Laka won two awards for its owners recently. Bill and Maxine Wood of North Salt Lake entered their 1 restored 1961 Lincoln Continental convertible converti-ble in the Western National meet of the Lincoln Continental Owners Club at Lake Tahoe, Nev. Competition for awards and trophies required compliance to rules and rigid standards of original ; equipment and design in restoring antique cars, sometimes referred to 1 - . .. as classics. The entries are judged in 20 areas, and every part of the vehicle is checked to determine if the vehicle has been restored to its original condition in compliance with the rules. The Woods four-door 1961 convertible con-vertible won first place in ,its class. Additionally, the car which is done in a royal red metallic with a white and red interior won the Ford Motor Company's Trophy for the best in the show of all 1961 through 1969 Lincolns "and Lincoln Continentals at the meet ""Wood spent hundreds of hours over jperiod of about three years restoringieaesy detail on the 1961 Lincoln convertible before entering it in the competition at Lake Tahoe. He has also restored several other cars, including an . antique 1937 Chevrolet Master DeLuxe Coupe. |
