Show p the illustRAted BiBle Be Merciful and Be Blessed "Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy." Matthew 5:7 - Christianity is based on two main qualities faith and morality. In the Beatitudes that Christ taught His disciples the stress was on the morality God expected from those who believed in Him, arid the favor He would show to those who followed His guidance. The word Beatitudes derives from, the Latin word "beatus" meaning "made happy." Jesus' contention was that those who practiced the virtues He set forth would achieve a sense of inner well-being. Certainly no one could fault those who evidence mercy, righteouness, purity, meekness or peacefulness in their character. For I such, God reserves a special blessedness. |
