Show Surprising Wildcats take early lead in volleyball action p i :i y . j - " 4 - j V, ' - Surprising Woods Cross has taken first place in Region Six volleyball action, moving to a 3-0 record on the strength of. two wins last week. Meanwhile, Bountiful dropped two matches, Viewmont lost once and Davis split a pair of matches. WOODS CROSS The Lady Wildcats started the week with a 16-14 1512 win at Bountiful, as senior Dawn Britton had the first of two outstanding matches with eight kills and five digs. Andrea Wilcox-had -eight blocks, and Anji Parkin was credited with eight assists. Jessica Olsen, Heidi Huffman and Jenny Johnson paced the Braves. On Thursday, the Wildcats ' downed Granite 15-13 15-9, again paced by Britton, along with senior Maggie Allen, who had several fine blocks. . BOUNTIFUL The Braves traveled to Tooele on Thursday, where the host Buffaloes defeated them 15-12 15-11. Olsen, Huffman, Michelle Maughn and Allison Miller earned praise for their play, as Tooele moved to 3-0 to stay on top with Woods Cross. VIEWMONT The Vikes played just once last week, dropping a 2-15 15-10 15-10 match to surprising Davis. After a -strong first game by Viewmont, Davis rallied behind Periann Home, who had nine kills; Heather Mills, who set well and was a standout defensively; and the play of Rox-anne Rox-anne Nalder, Stacy Korth and Mariam Rees. Viewmont was paced "by Kim Blackham, who had several kills in the opening game. DAVIS The Darts lost a heartbreaker at Bonneville-en Thursday to a very good Laker team by a score of 13-15 13-15 16-14 15-11. Ali Youngblood served 21 times for Davis, scoring several points, while Home had nine kills. Bonneville was the team which took the Bountiful High Invitational In-vitational title earlier this month. In Region Six, Bountiful hosted West and Woods Cross traveled to Judge g Tuesday, while Thursday's Q schedule calls for Murray to visit Woods Cross and Bountiful to travel to Jordan.
